About the Author

Sam Heughan came to fame through the hit TV show Outlander, playing the lead character Jamie Fraser for five successful seasons. Released on Starz in the US, the show is viewed all around the world. With a career in theater (Laurence Olivier award nominee), television, and film spanning seventeen years, he was most recently seen in the Sony Pictures Bloodshot movie opposite Vin Diesel. Graham Mctavish has had an acting career spanning thirty-five years--best known as Dougal Mackenzie in the Starz hit show Outlander, and the fence Dwarf, Dwalin, in the Hobbit trilogy. He most recently starred as the Saint of Killers in AMC's show, Preacher, based on the cult graphic novels of the same name.

These 2 men have a strange aura when they are doing any kind of project together. It's a combination of true friendship, which shows through at every moment, thorough knowledge of each others flaws, and a genuine joy when revealing said flaws to the world. Month by month the tell you historical truths aboutthe clans, their peckish personalitiesand the resultant skirmishes and wars that followed. They talk about the beautiful scenery as well as the ancient architecture that are found throughout the Scottish Highlands. All of this is very enlightening and enjoyable to read, but the real gem lies in their wit. I have never picked up this book to read a few chapters without, at some point, breaking out with roars of laughter. As a case in point April has a section on the annual hunting of haggis which is worth the entire book. I loved reading it and will probably reread it at least once when I need a good laugh from 2 very interesting and funny men.

I am a fan of Sam and Graham, so of course I loved this book. They write just as they talk. Lots of banter between the two. Just a book about a country but kept my interest the entire read. Interesting to read about clans and how they fought between each other just because of their names. Very different type of culture than American history.
