About Clay Martin
I served in two branches of service, the USMC and the US Army. In the Corps I was in the infantry, a Scout/ Sniper, and a Recon Marine.
In the Army I served as a Green Beret, with most of my career spent in 3rd Special Forces Group. I was an Operational Detachment Alpha ( ODA) Communications SGT, Intelligence SGT, and ended my career as a SFAUC instructor.
I was forced to medically retire in 2013, and spent a few years in the usual jobs, teaching people to shoot and contracting. I have been all over the world, and seen a thing or two out of the ordinary.
I started writing novels in August of 2017, and finished my first non-fiction survival book in June of 2020. Sadly, it has proven to be a crystal ball for our slide into the abyss.
I live in Idaho with my wife, sons, and pack of feral dogs.

Blog postThis week’s book review takes us in a different direction, with one of my all-time favorites. Though published in 2007, Thirteen by Richard K. Morgan is one you should pick up if you haven’t.
This is a sci fi book, but will appeal to readers besides that. I’m not the biggest sci fi junkie in the world, though I do like the genre on occasion. Thirteen, however, is better thought of a philosophical tale that happens to inhabit a sci fi universe. There is a murder mystery plot line, but2 years ago Read more -
Blog postEven before I started writing my own books, I was often asked for recommendations by friends. Comes with the territory if you are voracious reader, which I was before my rug rats started making bedtime a siege on a nightly basis. Still, this is something I have been meaning to add to the blog for quite some time. There is a lot of junk on the shelves at your local book store. Nothing is more frustrating than spending some coins, finally sitting down to read a much anticipated story, and it2 years ago Read more

Blog postIt has been a wild year, as any of you that follow on Facebook or Twitter already know.
We put our house on the market last May, and what followed was the worst real estate debacle I have ever been party too. We sold our house. We put another house under contract. Our house sale fell apart. We lost the one under contract. We sold our house again. Rinse and repeat. 3 times. Finally, in December, we had a real buyer.

Prairie Fire is a guide for Red Counties to survive and thrive during what looks to be another Civil War brewing. Drawing on his experience in Special Forces with counter insurgency, the author creates a step by step road map to making it out alive. Featuring the same gallows humor mixed with real world examples as Concrete Jungle: A Green Beret's Guide to Urban Survival, Prairie Fire is the spiritual successor made specifically for those in rural areas. Food and water, firearms, security, equipment, planning, and tactics are all covered in depth, along with many other topics.

A bioweapon—a global epidemic—kicks off World War III in this explosive thriller from the author of Last Son of the War God.
Derek Martell is in a dead-end career, manning a fuel point in Eastern Iraq. It’s a far fall from a life of fortune and glory, but he’s lucky to have any job at all. Until he wakes up after a sandstorm to find Doomsday is at hand. The apocalypse has started, and his invite was late.
A global catastrophe is unfolding, an epidemic that reaches every shore. Only genetic Arabs seem to be immune, and scores will be settled. One thousand years of tactical losses have been reversed in the blink of an eye. The Western world only has one card remaining to be played, a weapon of radiation and fire that has only been used twice. But backed up against the wall, what choice do they have?
Teamed up with a ragtag band of other survivors, Derek is running against the clock through the burning desert. A counter strike is imminent, which won’t matter if the locals get them first. All Derek needs is to find a plane. But first he has to dodge . . . the Sword of the Caliphate.
Praise for Clay Martin’s Last Son of the War God
“A thrilling adventure that . . . offers real insight into the mind of a Special Forces soldier.”—Guns America Digest
“As page-turners go, this book is for certain one of them, but don’t let that fool you into thinking the story is devoid of a sophisticated plot.”—SOFREP

From the author of Sword of the Caliphate: “a thrilling adventure that . . . offers real insight into the mind of a Special Forces soldier” (Guns America Digest).
In the backcountry of Idaho, a tribe of men are hunting and killing with a dream of returning the world to an earlier time. A time when courage and prowess in the field determined a man’s worth. A time when the strong took what they wanted, and the weak cowered in fear.
Mike Bryant has come to the wilderness to die. Tired of the trappings of modern life, his will to live has run out. But when he crosses paths with a group of warriors who challenge him, he suddenly finds purpose. Mike is no ordinary man. Frozen and given up for dead, an inner core of rage ignites a fury few have seen and lived. Deep in the White Cloud Mountains, a demon is awakening. The Last Son of the War God was forged in the storm of blood and fire. And now he’s angry.
The War God has chosen his champion, one of his favorite sons. And by the time the dust settles, one thing will be clear. If you choose the War God as your deity, you had better have what it takes to measure up. Consequences are eternal.
“As page-turners go, this book is for certain one of them, but don’t let that fool you into thinking the story is devoid of a sophisticated plot . . . action that starts early on and continues through to the very last line of the book.”—SOFREP
