A get started guide for the change-curious!
Reviewed in the United States on March 3, 2020
This book is an easy read and is exactly what lawyers in 2020 need to be focusing on! Jack Newton takes the reader through the logic and reasoning behind why client-centered services will benefit every firm. As each firm will vary in how it should focus efforts it's a book about the strategy, not the tactics. There's no magic pill or silver bullet formula for every firm. The industry in general and lawyers individually are under great pressure to adapt. Yet, most of the time that pressure just makes people feel even more overwhelmed. But this book is a guide that will get you on the journey. It won't give you a fish, it will teach you to think like a fisherman.
Personally my favorite part of the book is the advice to just start somewhere! Don't get overwhelmed with the amount of improvements that you might need to make but simply take the Toyota method to improve by 1% at a time. A little bit of change can build up to a lot of difference! I have seen that in my own firm and I know lawyers will see it in theirs. A journey of a thousand miles begins with just one step - make your first step reading this book!
