Cute Book with Great Message

This is your typical Clifford the Big Red Dog Book. I like it and the message it presents. Essentially the plot to this story is that Clifford enters a dog contest. Due to his large size, he is in last place while there is another littler dog who is scoring perfectly and definitely in the lead. However, when it comes to the water portion of the competition, the little dog starts to drown and Clifford is able to rescue him. Even though Clifford loses the dog competition, what he did makes him an even greater champion. I think this is a great lesson for all children, and may come in particularly handy if you have a child who feels different or is sad that they aren't as "good" as another child at a sport or other type of competition. It lets them know that we all have talents and abilities, and sometimes there are even more important things to be good at than games or sports.

My children will love this book! I would read simular books of this book to them a lot when they were young. I have five children at different ages. Four out of the five are now teenagers and one is six. They were always excited about the dog being so huge!
This book I am sure will be a good picture book for young children. And it is an enjoyment to read the clifford books. I highly recommend this book to those that are looking for a good childrens book!

We ordered two brand new copies of the same book. One was just fine, but the cover on the second book had a slight tear in the bottom section and there was a water stain four inches in diameter on that same paper cover. We ordered the books as gifts so had to throw the paper jacket away. That was unfortunate because the jacket contained information about the book that was not printed on the hard cover.
