3.0 out of 5 stars Great for low-light, terrible for overhead light, awful audio
By Techjunkie on February 4, 2021
I tested five different webcam models in the same price range rated four stars or greater on Amazon. The CloudValley HD 1080P was one of two to feature autofocus. Its low-light image was the best, but its audio quality was the worst. Its picture was extremely overexposed in overhead lighting with no way to adjust exposure.

Sorry for the disjointed video review - these are the bits from my multi-cam comparison for the CloudValley cut and pasted together as apparently Amazon's community guidelines frown upon mentioning other products in a product review and my attempt to use the full video resulted in a rejected review.

Pros and cons:
Pro - Autofocus
Pro - Images were very sharp and well focused in low lighting
Con - Images were completely overexposed in overhead lighting
Con - Audio from the mic was the worst of all cams tested

3.0 out of 5 stars Color Quality and Microphone Aren't Great
By PlumPlumm on September 23, 2020
I really wanted to like this web camera. It is easy to mount and use. However, the image quality is lacking in picking up correct colors. Also, the microphone is sub-par. It sounds like I am underwater and muffled. I like that the camera has a built-in privacy cover. I also really like the ball mount that allows the user to adjust the camera from left-right and up-down to get the right position without having to remount the camera.

The camera worked fine with Zoom, however, like I mentioned, the microphone was not good enough to use for a meeting. If you are going to use this for web meetings I would highly recommend getting a different microphone.

I have attached a video that shows the quality differences (audio and video) between this camera and a Logitech C920. I had them mounted right next to each other and swapped between the two for the video.

Pros:
Pivoting head on a ball mount (rotate left-right, up-down)
Monitor mount
Privacy shield

Cons:
Audio is very muffled with some background noise
Color quality of the camera is muted

5.0 out of 5 stars A truly "plug-n-play" rig, good entry level webcam.
By Nate & Brittney on September 11, 2020
Quick Synopsis: Okay - so you aren't planning on streaming live gameplay but you want to do video conferences with friends, family, school, work, etc. Here is a good sub $40 webcam! VERY EAST TO USE.

DESIGN
Sleek, nice weight to the camera, simple plug-n-play USB. Has a swivel mount that rotates 360 degrees and has a female adapter for a tripod/mount. That said, you DO NOT NEED a screw to mount it, you can simply open the adapter to fit your screen edge (see photos).

VIDEO
The manual claims 2 megapixels with 1080p and I believe that to be accurate. The framerate is a bit slow, so I wouldn't host an at-home exercise routine with this camera, but if you want to conduct simple conferences, it's perfect!

AUDIO
The audio is rather poor (see Part 2 of the video for a sample). But after all, it's intended to be used as a camera, not so much a microphone.

PRICE
Wowza! You can't really beat the price here for a functional webcam!!

Overall, I have no problem whatsoever giving this webcam 5 stars, as I believe you get a bang for your buck!

4.0 out of 5 stars This is a very basic model, with lots of sound delay.
By Crystal W. on September 12, 2020
This is a CloudValley Hd 1080p Webcam with Microphone, AutoFocus, USB 2.0/3.0 Webcams for Skype Zoom YouTube FaceTime, Web Camera for Mac Laptop Desktop PC, for WIN7/8/10 Mac OS (Privacy Model). The privacy model is simply a sliding camera cover. This is pretty easy to set up, but the cord is very short. We had to move the laptop 2.5 feet closer to the desk in order to hook it up, this almost cost me an entire shelf of expensive polishes because they almost fell when trying to make room for the laptop at a closer range. The clip for setting the camera on is very wide and doesn't actually clip, it "rests" on it only, with no tightener. The base does not swivel up and down for more accurate camera point, you have to angle the entire unit precariously to move it where you are. The base does swivel left or right tho. Not sure why, but I get a lot of delay from sound. Can't decide if it is the device or not. It does have a quick autofocus and picks up movement quickly.
