In a story that could be ripped from the headlines, this suspense romance kept me on my toes. I was continuously changing my guesses as to who did what. I was wrong – LOL.
I loved how the clues were metered out. I love the slow burn and build to steamy passion. This is why Toni Anderson is becoming known as a master of suspense romance.
Narration: Eric G. Dove does a beautiful job of creating this story. His power of suspense had me getting to work or home and wondering how I got there. I’m sure I drove safely, but I was also deeply involved in the tale. That is why I listen to audiobooks! A perfectly executed narration.
Note: While I received this book as a gifted audiobook copy, my opinions are my own and are given freely.

I have loved each book in the COLD JUSTICE series thus far, and still hold a favoured, soft spot for Alex and Mallory… but Lincoln and Izzy… sometimes you find characters that were secondary in previous reads, that you know you need to read their story, to travel on their journey. Toni has woven another stellar book with COLD FEAR!
Toni will take Lincoln and Izzy through a suspenseful and often times frustrating investigative process for our SASC FBI agent. It’s an investigation that holds secrets, intrigue, and much sadness. Time is fast running out to find and stop the evilness of a serial killer. It’s a story that pits two intelligent, highly professional people together who also find themselves attracted to each other. The lengths a murderer goes to divert attention and resources is extraordinary. A story that is beautifully paced as it unfolds its intrigue, mystery and suspense. Another book that showcases the often tedious task of investigative work that the FBI and Police deals with. Investigations that are filled with frustrations, doubts, and more questions, before puzzling answers are solved. Where past and present will collide.
If you love page turning drama, intrigue and love solving crime - then Toni Anderson delivers with COLD FEAR. A beautifully told story, highly recommended for those that love mystery and solving crimes. The entire COLD JUSTICE series is worthy of reading.
Izzy left home after high school and joined the Army, becoming a doctor. When her mother died of cancer Izzy resigned her commission to take care of her seventeen year old sister, Kit. Now picking up shifts at the local hospital, Izzy follows an ambulance to the dunes one morning and finds two victims, one the police chief's son and the other her sister's best friend. At the hospital, the boy is taken in for treatment, but the girl is pronounced DOA. When Izzy returns to the dunes with coffee for the men working the scene, she meets two FBI agents and is volunteered to put them up in the rental cottage next to hers. Izzy knows the dunes hold secrets, some of them hers. She isn't ready for them to come out, but with the FBI involved, if they do, Kit will go to foster care while she goes to prison.

The character development was also very strong and this is true for the side characters as well. There was an emotional depth to this thriller which I find is often missing from the mass produced romantic suspense titles saturating the market. I can't wait to listen to the rest of the series.
I have to say that I found the first few chapters quite sad and emotional. Rape is a sensitive and difficult topic to write about and when it involves the murder of a young girl you can't help but feel shocked and saddened. The friends' and parents' grief was almost tangible in these opening chapters.
I haven't listened to any of Eric G. Dove's other performances but he did an amazing job with this one and if I saw his name on another title in the genres of interest to me then it would help persuade me to buy it.
I bought the kindle copy of this book but I received the audio book at no charge in exchange for an honest review.
