New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Marc Cameron, a native of Texas and now a resident of Alaska, has spent over three decades in law enforcement. In either book 2 or 3, there are instructions for making scrambled eggs - I kid you not. I tried and WOW! I am a senior and have never had such scrambled eggs. Everyone should try it! Trying cookies tomorrow.

On to the book. Marc, you have really come up with great, real life characters that the reader cares about. You are even letting Arliss become a bit more human. Of course, its a great plot, fast moving and keeps your interest just as all of his other books. Another winner, Marc. Write the next one really fast!
P.S. The recipes are the cherry on top.

Cold Snap is the fourth book in the Arliss Cutter series. It is perhaps my favorite. Arliss is a US Marshal assigned in Alaska. The author, Marc Cameron is a former Deputy Marshal and served in Alaska, thus he writes with unparalleled authenticity that can only come from those that worn the badge.
Some of the areas I really enjoy are: a plot related to a police thriller novel, life with survival and hardships about living in Alaska, a page turning plot, and the many subplots that are interwoven together with seamless complexity to make Cold Snap outstanding in every way. I appreciated the well-drawn, convincing characters.
Warning: Cold Snap is not for the faint of heart. It is intense and deeply emotional. A guaranteed thriller of the year.

Book Review – While a lot of crime thrillers can become quite repetitive, Author Marc Cameron has found a way to stand out with his fourth Arliss Cutter series crime thriller, “Cold Snap.” Cameron has mastered telling riveting stories of the US Marshal’s mission of ‘hunting and apprehending lethal criminals.’ His accumulation of the Alaskan backdrop in this series makes the stories come to life. His detailed story lines allow the reader to feel as though they are in the middle of the action. Well-paced and full of action, the narrative moves along well, using well developed characters to keep the story intriguing through the book. Cameron’s development of main character, Deputy US Marshal Arliss Cutter continues to be inspiring. While trying to solve gruesome murders, resolve family problems and transport lethal criminals all at the same time, Arliss Cutter appears to be tough, real, and relatable. He’s become one of my ‘top’ favorite protagonists in the thriller genre. In this tale, Cameron keeps the tension high when Cutter is transporting a group of criminals back to Anchorage only to encounter plane troubles during the flight back. The plane lands in the middle of nowhere in the Alaskan wilderness, leaving Cutter and others trying to survive the ‘wintery’ wilds of Alaska and the ruthless criminals. Also, back in civilization, there is a killer on the loose who dismembers female victims (prostitutes) with ease. Cold Snap has several strong plot lines that move along effectively and permits the reader to remain engaged as Cameron ties the story together slowly, but consistently. I was very impressed with how Cameron connects the brutality of the winter cold along with the story's violent actions – very creative writing. Great story telling combined with vivid descriptions of the Alaskan wilderness and an explosive ending makes Cold Snap a great read! I highly recommend Cold Snap, it’s a great read!

This is an excellent wilderness survival story. Add to that being caught in an Alaska blizzard with two murderers. The other half of the book involves tracking down monstrous serial killer(s).the author's career in the U.S. Marshals Service brings a level of authenticity often mssing from procedurals. The characters are well drawn. THe pace is reentlesss.The tutorial about Alaska is fascinating. This is the fourth in a series. I recommend reading them in order but each could stand alone. Warning. There's an awful lot of very explicit violence. So be prepared. But certainly recommended.

I really enjoyed Cameron's Jericho Quinn series, but Arliss Cutter's stories hit the sweet spot: compelling characters, vivid settings, and rollicking adventures. Cold Snap is the best entry in a fantastic series; the pacing is outstanding. What could have been over the top (off course plane in distress, spring blizzard, hungry bear...) was handled deftly. As usual, Cutter meets each challenge with grumpy stalwartness, but this time, he's pushed to his limit.

Another MARC Cameron virtually impossible to put down. I've read all the Arliss Cutter books, and I want him for a neighbor. I spent two weeks in Fairbanks with the Air Force in November 1969. MINUS 60 below for the whole two weeks. I can live without that, so Armies will have to move to New Jersey. I only have a few authors I regard as the Best, and Marc Cameron is right there close to the top. Awesome book!!!

I read of all of Marc Cameron's books as soon as they come out. I usually finish them very quickly as they are fun to read. However, it took me a long time to finish this book. The beginning of the book could have been eliminated. It added nothing to the story line. The story dragged on until you are over 50% through the book. There seemed to be a lot of miscalculations and coincidences that made up the majority of the book. The ending just ended. I know there will be another book with Cutter, but there could have been more to the conclusion of the other characters.
