Enjoyable

The film is enjoyable - even thou it definitely has it's hokey moments. There are also aspects of the plot that where completely unbelievable - (Spoiler) especially the premise that the Russian spy who doesn't trust returning to Russia doesn't try escaping at the very beginning. He had many an opportunity to do so. But then if that happens - you don't have this plot and it's a whole different film! All the government characters (on both sides) are somewhat cartoonish. It had the feel of a late 70s film instead of a 90s one. Gene is always good and I thought Misha did a fine job as well.

A 4 to offset the people who said it wasn't worth watching

I didn't have much hope for this film, just because I am a card-carrying pessimist and usually somewhat bored by even critically acclaimed, award-winning movies. So it's rare for me to say, hey this was actually a good film and glad I stumbled upon it. But I am always willing to watch the first few minutes to see if it's something worth continuing further, and this film gave me no reason to shut it off. And to the person who said Gene Hackman "phoned it in"! -- I beg your pardon, it's Gene Hackman playing Gene Hackman just like he always does, a consummate professional and no complaints deserved. Give it a try, it's worth seeing for yourself.

Mediocre flick, Gene Hackman just phoned it in. Not much of a story line and the ending came about 15 minutes too soon. No idea how such an average movie can score such high ratings.

The CIA gets shafted.

Any time the CIA gets the wrong end of the stick it rates five stars. Add Gene Hackman into the formula, even better. Little hard to believe him running faster than the guys chasing him and what's the big deal with Columbian money? The CIA poops gold bars. It wouldn't need help from a drug lord. Oh well that's the fantasia part of the story and the twists from there on out were really good. I'm getting old so maybe next week when I forgot I watched it and see this sticky note I put on my screen I'll watch it again. Highly recommended. Is that young lady a Borg? Pretty!

Don't waste your time on this one....

Wanted this video to be good, but it just never made it. Movies always take theatrical license on reality, but this one went too far.
It's not well written at all and unfortunately not entertaining either.
The story had potential but it ended up being stupid and unbelievable.
Don't waste your time on this flick.

What does PG-13 mean?
Verified purchase
If PG-13 means frontal female nudity even if it's in bed with a man then I guess this is rated correctly. Luckily it was in the first few minutes so there was not much time wasted before it was turned OFF. Umm, no thanks.

Enjoyable & great teaming

Yes, this "Company Business" is a bit hokey and implausible, but I enjoyed it for the one time teaming of Gene Hackman with Mikhail Baryshnikov. Hackman is right in his element and delivers a solid performance. Baryshnikov is also quite good in one of the few if only film roles where he isn't a dancer. The plot isn't a total dud by any means and has a lot of twists and turns (even if you don't want to examine any of this too closely) along with a least one double-cross, which keeps it moving along and kept me guessing the outcome the first time I saw it. But hey, what James Bond plot is plausible either so I think this is a film you really tune in to see first and foremost because you like the stars and want to see the two of them. But if you don't like Hackman or Baryshnikov, then don't waste your time.

Baryshnikov and Hackman save the day

I watched this despite bad reviews because I really wanted to see Baryshnikov in a feature film like this. And he does a great job. I'm wondering why Hollywood never offered him more roles like this over the years, since he's really quite good at it. Despite the chemistry of the actors, the movie is just very hokey and pointless. They try to make the story interesting by alluding to the extent of corruption within the U.S. government, but I think that's all common knowledge these days and not really that shocking anymore. I was amused throughout the movie that the CIA and Russia were upset about losing 2 million dollars, because I kept thinking of scenes in Austin Powers when everyone is laughing at Dr. Evil for thinking 1 million dollars was a lot of money... In short, this movie was just kind of juvenile and nothing extraordinary. Baryshnikov fans should be pleased though.
