From my early years to the present, books have been a refuge. They’ve fueled my imagination. I’ve traveled to faraway places and met aliens with Asimov, Heinlein, Clarke, Herbert, and Le Guin. I’ve explored historical events with Michener and Clavell, and I played spy with Ludlum and Fleming.

There’s no doubt that the early sci-fi masters influenced the writing of my first two series, The Silver Ships and Pyreans. I crafted my stories to give readers intimate views of my characters, who wrestle with the challenges of living in space and inhabiting alien worlds.

Life is rarely easy for my characters, who encounter aliens and calamities, but they persist and flourish. I revel in examining humankind’s will to survive. Not everyone plays fair or exhibits concern for their fellow beings, but that’s another aspect of humans and aliens that I investigate.

My stories offer hope for humans today about what they might accomplish tomorrow far from our home world. Throughout my books, humans exhibit a will to persevere, without detriment to the vast majority of others.

A wonderful rounding off of one of my - if not the - favorite SF series and universes I’ve ever had the pleasure of sharing. From a start that was positive and cool to continuously leaving me with a calm and uplifted spirit after each and every book in the series it was a bittersweet, but very nice end to the series. As in life not everything ended perfectly, but that made it so much more believable...and sad, but also happy.

I’ve been lucky enough to have had a few interactions with Mr. Jucha and I feel like he has imbued the books with his personality, as does most writers, but him more successfully than most !

I look forward to the new series with anticipation and I hope it’ll give us more of the SADEs, more great personalities and many, many more great and uplifting stories.

Endlessly imaginative, highly creative stories populated with an array of fascinating characters, the books are built on a foundation of democratic and humanistic values. Each one is fun and satisfying deep holistic way. I am sad that the series has come to an end but grateful for all 20 volumes. The memorable creation of SADEs will far outlive this series. Mr. Jucha has brought the series to a close in a most satisfying way with just the right blend the sweet and bittersweet elements while tying up the loose ends. A fitting end to an excellent contribution to the sci-fi catalog. Well done, and Thank You, Mr. Jucha, for many hours of stimulating and enjoyable reading.

Space Opera or Commentary on Social Justice?

(Spoilers ahead). This series covers a wide range of characters, races, and locations, mixed with some fun space travel engineering ideas, a bit of magical medicine and brain implants that replace modern-day smart phones.
There were some interesting tweaks regarding FTL travel and communication, and a quantum-coupled gate system to allow instant travel across the local galaxy. The SADE (AI) characters rarely have flaws, with the exception of one AI who fully embraced the “heartless evil overlord” and another who was a “gentle giant” ruled by childish masters.
Now and then it was a challenge to follow the thread of who was who and how the characters related to each other. Some of the threads in the story were wrapped up too neatly, in my view, while others just petered out with minimal resolution. (The big bad Artifice AI gets a complete hardware refresh courtesy of a batch of AI clones/fan girls and then is left to... slowly degrade in isolation? Why? ) The conflict with the Colony suggested that the insectoids were exceedingly smart and very aggressive, but we never encounter the source of their intelligence, despite the fact that they appeared to be more than a match for the alliance races, quickly changing tactics and strategies as the heroes in the story worked to stop their expansion. The heroes rarely make mistakes, always save the day, and consistently put the bad guys in their place using peer pressure, social media, or political Aikido. In the case of one of the main characters, his super-human ability to solve problems and use multiple brain implants, combined with a semi-mystical fate to meet alien species and make friends everywhere he goes. My favorite thread was about the empath vs the psychopath assassin. There are enough threads and ideas to keep the reader engaged. Not a five star read, but a solid three-four, if you like space operas.

The "end" could be seen as a bit abrupt, but once I have assimilated the story, I suspect it will not be such. Already a new direction is teased, and I for one shall gladly "sign on".

It provides not just thrilling stories, but inspiration and comfort (at least for me). Thank you, my friend, for the many pleasurable hours; spent not just reading, but reflecting!

So it had to end at some point but I’ve thoroughly enjoyed every book. Hard to believe it’s been twenty four books in all, as I’m not one who enjoys streaming shows with too many seasons as they can contain too much filler. I guess with books written well, with characters you continue to care about, that isn’t a problem.

If you’ve just found this book series and love sci fi, may I recommend finding the first Silver Ships title and starting the journey there. Deep into this series comes the Pyrean Empaths series, again so enjoyable, that runs alongside the Silver Ships books but then, so excitingly, joins the two series together.

Thank you Scott, it’s been a fabulous and epic journey. I look forward to the new books on their way. Bravo.

It's sad to see the series come to an end - and the epilogue is far too short in my view - but it had to happen sometime. I look forward to the Gate Ghost series next!

At times it is all a bit twee and 'happy clappy' (lets all live in harmony where all of the aliens have very human like characteristics such as laughing / have sense of humour). However the books and series are entertaining and the characters were built well. In many respects this is like a galactic formation of a United Nations.
