Review
J.B. brilliantly found a way for these characters to have a likability factor. I found myself in awe of how this all came together in the end especially with the Epilogue. - Wolfel's World of Books
I was not let down by J.B. McGee's writing. She filled in the missing story of how Veronica and Ian got together and in the end I didn't hate them anymore. Her style of writing is wonderful and her stories always keep me clenching my kindle. - Jen O., Winding Stairs Book Blog
The sex scenes were WOW! Her other books were very PG13 but this one was far from it, so beware if you are not looking for sexy scenes - Book Btches Blog
JB McGee's writing keeps getting better! I have enjoyed the `This' series so far with Broken and Mending and feel like I keep getting pulled deeper and deeper into the story. Conspiring takes a little spin off from the Mending novel where we meet Ian and Veronica. Author McGee takes us deeper into the background of the stories making up the `This' series and additional layers are built for the characters. With Conspiring I have actually felt a small change of heart towards these two characters who I was steadfastly despising in Mending. - Book Crush

About the author

J.B. McGee is a mother, wife, and the Amazon Top 100 author of the best selling This Series. Amazon Crossing acquired the German rights to her debut novel, Broken. Heartfall, her coming of age novel about a bullied ballerina, is a #1 best seller in the Teen and Young Adult Performing Arts genre. Skipping Stones, a military romance about a young woman strongly influenced by her faith and her family all the while searching for her true love, is a #1 best seller in Women's Christian Fiction.
When J.B.'s not writing, she enjoys reading as well as watching and live-chatting her favorite television shows with her friends.
Born and raised in Aiken, South Carolina, she attended Converse College and eventually earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education from The University of South Carolina-Aiken in 2006. In college, she was told by her children’s literature professor she would be the one student from her class to be an author. McGee shook her head and laughed.
In 2011, it was discovered that not only do both of her children, but also she and her husband, have mitochondrial disease. Affecting 1 in 2500 people, it has no cure or treatments. Being a writer allows J.B. to care for her family’s unique needs while also providing a platform for raising awareness for this disease.
She is a hopeless romantic who loves to escape into fairy tales—some she reads and some she creates.
J.B. McGee and her family now reside in Buford, Georgia.

We get a glimpse in this Novella of what happened during Mending that we didn’t see. Mending is still about Gabby and Bradley’s relationship but there are things that come about and Conspiring fills in the gaps that left us questioning how this all went down.
I wanted to hate Veronica (and I did at the beginning) for coming between Bradley and Gabby in Mending. They have always been top of my list of favorite book couples and when Veronica tried to come between them, yeah that made me not so happy… After reading Conspiring and seeing what was going on in Veronica’s head I gained a completely new respect for her. She is vulnerable, but she is not as needy as one would think. She’s successful and a very strong willed woman and she is nothing short of a fighter and this novella proved that. She wants what we all do have someone love us unconditionally.
When Veronica and Ian come together in this book it’s an explosion of passion and desire. This is where the novella sets itself apart from Broken and Mending. There is a HOT steamy scene that still brings a blush to my face. J.B. has done a wonderful job adding a new element to her writing with this novella.
We even get a glimpse of Bradley in the beginning of the novella before he met Gabby and it was fun to read that different side to him.
I read the Epilogue several times… Ian’s POV blew me away… I have read a lot of the people saying that they still don’t like him or Veronica, but I really do feel like there is a whole new side of them both that broke through and he made me feel for them in the end.
If you haven’t read Broken, Mending and Conspiring get them today you won’t be disappointed!
Conspiring gives you the insight into the affair between Veronica and Ian - both of whom I hated in Mending. They were both manipulative and conniving. That's not to say that the same doesn't hold true in Conspiring, but the way McGee brings you into their world and their heads helps you understand just why they are acting the way they are. While Ian is still a jerk for what he did to Gabby he offers some redemption here in how he treats Veronica. He is sweet and caring - though still a jerk in one big way - but I have to say that I did find a soft spot for him. By the end of the novella I felt horrible for Veronica and saw her in a completely different light. She's a fiercely strong and independent woman which is short changed by the men in her life. Not that I want anything to get in the way of Bradley and Gabby, but I am definitely pulling for Veronica to find some peace in all of this mess.
Conspiring is a great addition to the "This" series and it made me that much more impatient for Forgiven.
Ian and Veronica seem to complement each other very well... I see this relationship progressing and possibly being something like that of Gabby and Bradley. It is always good when you see a character redeem him/herself and it appears to me that Ian really cares for Veronica.
Once again, another great score for JB!
The only negative thing about this book were the errors in sentences. It was like the author forgot to include some words, but it wasn't too bad that it ruined the story or kept me distracted.
Great read!

I really did not like either of these characters very much in the previous books, but this part of the story gives you a whole new outlook on both characters.
This part of the story fills us in on how Veronica and Ian meet and how this transpires that Ian may be the father of Veronica's baby. This story gives us a good insight in to why Veronica acted the way she did in previous books, as well as us getting to see the loving side of Ian. The story is so heart-felt in terms of the plot line and I couldn't help but like both characters.
I have read the next book in the series, forgiven (this) which is amazing and we see more of this couple also. At the end of forgiven (this) the author tells us Veronica and Ian will be back in their own story to be released later in the year. A highly recommended series.

I went through different emotions with this one at first I felt sorry for Veronica as I knew she was about to get kicked to the curb, then I felt a bit sorry for her until the end and I just wanted to slap her!!!!
As for Ian well as soon as he came on the scene I just wanted to kill him, then I started to warm to him a little right up until the end then I felt anger towards him.
The only words to sum up both Veronica and Ian are SELFISH!!!! They are made for each other!!!
I LOVED this book and I'm sooooo intrigued now to read more about these two!!!
Also looking forward to the next book in the series need more Bradley now lol xx

Whilst I hated Veronica in the last book, I could understand where she was coming from, however the person that I could not understand was Ian. How he could he go along with it.
One thing that I was confused with one minute was all OK next minute she was 7 months pregnant, it seemed to jump without warning. I cannot wait to see how life pans out for Veronica and Ian though.
