I’m kidding.
Okay, I’m not kidding.
Lacey needs someone in her life who’s bigger and scarier than her demons, and she wants that man to be me. Her boss. The Viking in a suit.
I hope she understands what she’s getting into. This daddy isn’t going to pat her on the head and tell her she’s a good girl for nothing. Especially not when she’s spinning out of control.
Author's note: this book contains depictions of eating disorder recovery.

Great book, worth the read.
Lacey craves the time she spends with Stian after work hours, it makes her feel like she can almost live like a normal person when they are together, rather than being nothing more than her disease.
This book intrigued me,as this is a subject matter I have dealt with for over 20 years of my own life. I thought it was amazing how well the author navigated this truly difficult topic. As someone who has navigated similar struggles In my own life, this was not an easy read for me. The daily struggles and intrusive thoughts Lacey has is truly heartbreaking. Her and Stian do not have an easy road to navigate together, but the love and determination to never leave her side and help her heal is absolutely beautiful. As difficult as this story was to read, it left me with a heart warming smile at the end. I truly enjoyed it.
𝐻𝑒𝑒𝑑 𝑤𝑎𝑟𝑛𝑖𝑛𝑔 of the possible triggers dealing with eating disorders. Nothing about this subject matter was sugarcoated in this book. But it was done impeccably.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
3/5 Stars!
This was an easy read for me, and I don't necessarily ever say that as a bad thing. I think sometimes we all need a pallet cleanser in between heavier books. I think I was actually hoping this story would be a bit heavier. The main heroine of the story struggles with an eating disorder, and I was instantly hooked on the possibilities of this story. I knew going into it that the main hero would use BDSM to help her gain a sense of control over her disorder. This part of the book was done fairly well. I think I would have liked the book to be a bit longer. I enjoyed the aspect of the eating disorder portion of this book immensely. I loved the way the author described her other voice. I just felt like the romance aspect of it felt a bit rushed. It had potential to be more. I love the creativity of the plot set up, and the elegance the author used to talk about a difficult subject of mental health. The book was easy to read, and the romance was sweet and endearing.
I enjoyed this book as a quick easy read pallet cleanser. I also enjoyed the creativity and the care the author took to handle the delicate subject of an eating disorder throughout this book. I think if either of these things interest you this may be a good read for you!
A museum director and an artist’s daughter run into one another at an art show…sounds like it could potentially be the start of a joke, but what Stian and Lacey develop is anything but a joke. It is personal, it is just a bit deviant, it is heart-warming and heart-wrenching in equal parts; it is everything I didn’t know I needed to read wrapped up together in beautiful analogies and descriptions. Stian is an intimidating Viking of a man, a man that needs to be in control at all times, a man that needs EVERYTHING, regardless of the task at hand. Lacey is an incredibly strong and independent woman, that is struggling with demons that won’t let go, yet even during her most difficult times, all you want to do is give her the biggest hug and show her that you’re there for her, just like she’s learning to be there for herself. And then the relationship, first professionally and then personally, that develops between Stian and Lacey is unique, and perfect for them. Through ups and downs, through chemistry and despair, overcoming hurdles, and occasionally stumbling just before the finish line, these two have their work cut out for them, and the journey which the story undertakes to get them there is breathtaking.
I adored this book. I love the research and the care that has gone into this, both in dealing with what affects Lacey so, as well as the mythos behind the artwork mentioned, the mythology that fascinates them both, Greek and Norse. The endearments, the revealing of character in each Swedish phrase that slips past Stian, the way each one lifts up Lacey’s spirit; it is just so gosh darn wonderful! The topics covered are never easy to deal with, and Brianna has done it with such care; it is to be applauded. Read this book, fall in love with a strong and loving Viking, just like I did! You won’t regret it!

Lacy is a girl who is going through a serious struggle and Stian is the perfect man to help her. I was on the edge of my seat in anticipation through out this book. Hale has really given me something to think about with this one. Stian is all about control and so is Lacy and yet they need it in very different ways. I loved the sexy times that happened and was all up in my feels throughout this entire book. There are some sensitive subject that are talked about in this book but I felt like it helped me understand people who are struggling with the same thing on a better level.
I will be jumping into more of Brianna's words very soon!

Such a good story. The control/BDSM aspect is beautiful and gentle whilst not being necessarily mild. The anorexia is all consuming in parts of the story and while I'm sure the author did some very careful and in-depth research, it may be triggering. But overall I think it was very well addressed and unlike many stories, the main character wasn't "fixed" solely by being in a relationship

Though my journey has not been as medically brutal as Lacey's there were aspects of a shared experience that were dealt with in a far more reflective and respectful tone than I have often read. Brianna Hale is definitely a writer whose works I shall add to my ever growing to-be-read pile.

Stian and Lacey's journey together is heart wrenching, but also heart warming and uplifting. We follow Stian and Lacey through all the stages of their struggle to eventually find light at the end of their tunnel. I am so happy I came across this story and I look forward to reading more by Brianna Hale.

“She’s always with me, spitting insults and cruelty and telling me I’m unlovable, fat and greedy.”
Museum Director Stian Blomqvist slash Swedish ‘Viking’ finds himself without an assistant. Known as being controlling and difficult to work with, it is by chance that Lacey finds herself as his new assistant.
Stian is a disciplined man, with enough kindness and patience to offer a form of therapy that could assist Lacey with healing. A relationship formed over mutual respect, trust, control and ultimately submission, it is the perfect combination.
“She trusted me. I like to be wanted, and I love to be needed.”
It is no secret that I am a huge fan of Brianna Hale’s works.
Where she is the queen of daddy kink romances with a story-line that always captures your heart, I believe this time around ‘Contol Freak’ will appeal to a broader mass of readers.
YES, our hero thrives on being called ‘daddy’ but its irrelevant. This story was the right amount of character building and sexual heat to be perfect.
The author did an exceptional job dealing with the seriousness of an eating disorder without glossing over it. But it didn’t eclipse the story-line. It made it that more bittersweet.
If you haven’t read a Brianna Hale book before, now’s the time….
“I’m rough with your body sometimes, but I’ll always be gentle with your soul. She bruises far more easily.”
