5.0 out of 5 starsGreat Set for Inking Manga
Reviewed in the United States on July 4, 2017
To preface, I am an aspiring manga artist. I copy colored and black-white manga pages regularly as practice, along with creating my own original work. This is a review for the Copic Multiliner Set B-2 (with brushes), not to be confused with the similar, but refillable, Multiliner SP pens also from Copic.
These are a great alternative to Microns when doing colored pages, where I found Microns get picked up by alcohol markers a lot easier. Considering this is made by Copic, I'd expect as much. I should also note that these don't get picked up by erasers as much as Microns, so if erasing is part of your process, I'd take a look at these.
The variety in this set is perfect for inking very fine lines to bold ones (for panels), and even has brush nibs that are perfect for certain Japanese SFX fonts (I use a combination of these and high ink flow brush pens from popular brands to do my SFX).
The only thing I'd have to say, but is true for all pens of this nature, is to be careful of the angle and pressure you use with them, especially the extra fine ones (under 0.3). I accidentally bent my 0.03 nib while using it at a 45-degree angle for an extended period of time, putting pressure on the side of the tiny nib. It's now very finicky, only inking from certain angles, and it also bleeds a lot more -- not ideal for an ultra-fine pen in cleanliness-centric work like inking comics. I'm just an idiot though, being careful like you would normally would suffice and prevent that situation.
Overall, I'm perfectly satisfied with this set. I'll be purchasing more of the finer ones once they run out, as I'm sure they will run out first.
EDIT:
I provided some very simplistic, single stroke examples of line thickness and a couple SFX examples with the brushes (with examples of other brush pens for ink flow comparisons)

EDIT 2 (11/11/2018): I took a long break from art as a whole (haven’t touched this set for at least 6 months now). Decided I should update since they’ve been sitting, for anyone interested. They’re working just fine. Nothing out of the ordinary and they’ve all retained their usual properties. Ink flow still good and still plays well with Copics. Can’t recommend these enough!

1.0 out of 5 starsDried out quickly.
Reviewed in the United States on December 3, 2019
I got these a few months ago in hopes of trying something different from my usual go-to Micron pens. The first few days I had them, I was in love; the ink was nice and dark and the varying nibs in sizes I wasn't used to having were great. Maybe five days after the first time I used them, the .003 pen died. I didn't want to return them and tried to revive it a few times but it's totally dead. Not sure if this is because it dried out, or if there was damage to the nib (none is visible to the naked eye). The .005 followed shortly after.
I take good care of my pens and I'm not sure why this happened. The other sizes are doing okay but I don't really use them because I really wanted this set for the small sizes for detail work, and now that those are worthless, I haven't been using any of them as much. I shouldn't have to abstain from using my pens because I'm afraid they're going to die as soon as I uncap them. Honestly, I'm disappointed in these. I wanted them to be good pens because I did drop $25 on them, but they didn't live up to my expectations--that being said, my expectations shouldn't have to be that I'm able to use them for more than a week without them dying. That's a low bar to set and the .003 and .005 somehow didn't even manage to overcome that hurdle.

If there are any pros to this set, it would have to be the brush tip pens. Those at least are very good quality and have outlived every Micron brush pen I've ever used. But the regular nibs are inferior. I will be buying another pack of Microns to replace these, and unfortunately, I would have to recommend you avoid these altogether (unless you want them ONLY for the brush pens) and go for the Microns instead.

5.0 out of 5 stars As an artist, they're my personal favorite!

I draw in ink...A lot. My work is on FB as as FB page under ArtistDanielle and I can draw for several weeks without running out of ink on these pens. My work is detailed and intricate black and white pen and ink work and sometime I get really into what I'm doing and push harder than I should. In comparison, I truly love Micron lens also. In fact, they were my first real favorite, but sadly, the tips on my favorite pen tips .1 and .005 always seem to split with the Microns. I haven't had this issue with these yet and I've been using them over a year. I can also tell you, I splurged and bought the refillable Copic markers of similar sizes. Just not quite the same. I liked them. A lot!!! But I am a lefty. If you are left-handed, you will find the refillables just don't dry quite fast enough and you will smear your work. This is critical if you are buying these for fine art. I think so anyway. So, these are it for me. Great tips. archival in. No smearing. Love them!!

Jeff S.
4.0 out of 5 stars There is a reason so many use Copic
Reviewed in the United States on December 4, 2018
Size: 10 PensColor: Black SpVerified Purchase
To be fair, I was on the fence regarding Copic SP multiliner pens, mostly due to the price. I've used A LOT of fancy drawing pens in my time- Staedtler, Micron, even the non-SP Copics- and they served my needs well enough.

And then I decided to take the plunge. Wow. The are definitely the best drawing pens I have used, however for all of the positives, there are some caveats.

The first is, of course, the price. These aren't cheap pens by any means, and if finances are low, you can (like me) get by with cheaper brands. This is partly outweighed by the fact that you can buy ink refills and even replaceable nibs for each pen, thereby extending the life of the pen. And these have a nice metal (aluminum?) body which makes them more durable and, surprisingly, feel good in the hand.

These are also "good" pens. I find that they don't perform as well as one would expect on cheaper papers. They perform best on very smooth paper and anything less than that starts to look bad as the ink doesn't flow as well. think taking an expensive sports car over a bumpy, pothole-y road... you'll feel and notice each jarring bump. So note: better paper = better results.

One minor complaint is that the ink tube, which forms the back cap of the pen and can be removed and replaced, isn't snugly secured. When I put the pen cap on, and then pull it off when I'm done, the tube tends to come with it. Not a major problem, but a bit annoying.

Lastly, and this kind of falls under the paper observation, often the pens would briefly loose their flow if I was filling in over fresh ink. The nib would literally stop for a moment or two. Not sure why that is, and it doesn't seem to happen on nicer, smoother paper.

Buying these pens is a step forward but, bear in mind, the costs build on themselves as you find the need to buy nicer paper at a higher premium.

With that in mind, though, I'm definitely glad I made the upgrade to these, and feel I should've done this a long time ago.

These are perfect for outlining my watercolors. I like the variety of sizes, and they don't bleed when they get wet.
I was using Sharpie pens but they had a tendency to run when I'd add water, but Copic is perfect for the job!

I needed thin markers for outlining and these are perfect. They're smooth and I really like how there's a variety of sizes. The only problem is the brushes are hard to use, but that's probably just because I've had no practice with them.
I added a photo so you can see the difference in the sizes. I compared them with what I was using before, a Sharpie pen. I don't think I'll ever use anything under the 0.1, but they might come in handy one day.

Colorgasm
5.0 out of 5 stars Does its job beautifully
Reviewed in the United States on May 9, 2017
Size: 9 PensColor: BlackVerified Purchase
I was very hesitant buying these for a few reasons. I don't draw a whole ton to begin with/I'm prone to drawing something and immediately throwing it away, the steep price, and the risk that any of the pens could be dried out. However, I'm very glad I did buy these, the pens inked wonderfully and the picture attached does not do these pens justice at all.

The pens glided on the paper very smoothly, the lines came out so crisp (once again, probably not noticeable due to picture quality), and they dry fast. I'm guilty of resting my hand on the paper while I draw, so I was very pleased to not see any ink smudges in my semi-final product-- especially in the hair area. I wasn't originally too keen on the brush tip pens because I've never used the type of pen tip before, but they worked great and I'm glad I didn't shy away from them.

I've had a pack of Copic markers for over 5 years that still work and only a select few that I heavily use are fading. I bought these to replace them and they're ALREADY low-ink and gray. Now that I've gotten around to using them I'm finding that MANY of them are worthless right out of the bag. Money wasted. I'm now suspicious these are not authentic.

I've had them for a while now and they work really good! I recommend them to any one who draws anime like I do. The different sizes are good for getting all the details! I personally find it hilarious that I really don't like using the Copic markers ( I use prismacolor color pencils ) yet I really love these pens! So if you really love to draw GET THESE PENS!!! :D

5.0 out of 5 stars Great inkers!
Reviewed in the United States on January 5, 2017
Size: 10 PensColor: Black SpVerified Purchase
These are fantastic. I've used Faber-Castell PITTs, Prismacolor, and Microns, and these are way more consistent, precise, and the ink is fantastic. THAT SAID, I have a heavy hand, and I ate the smaller nibs for breakfast (PITTs seem to have the most durable nibs). However, if you take into account ink flow (Prismacolors were bad here), ink quality (Microns were bad here; erasing just murdered the lines), and feel (I'm a real sucker for a metal pen), and then combine it with the fact that you can refill these (you can "hack" Microns and PITTs to re-fill them, but you can't replace nibs), and I just really like the Copics. THAT SAID #2, the refills are additional stuff you have to buy, BUT if you amortize the cost of the initial pen and average the cost of the nibs and refills over time, these ARE cheaper, so if you ink a lot, there is a net benefit in total cost of ownership.

note: I do use a variety of papers and weight.
