I like the shooting. I like the pursuit scenes. I like the action and violence. I don't mind the old TV video aspect or the not surroundsound. The story is very interesting and I really appreciate something different. This was first in my recommendations and I hadn't seen it so I watched it. Amazon Prime Video knows what I like. The first one on the list now was the one that was recommended in the introduction of this movie.
How these guys made it out of the Academy never mind onto the streets as Police Officers and Sergeants and Captains is beyond me. The movie itself was entertaining as far as story telling goes but there are large gaps which could have been explored and used to fill in more of the details that went into the heist itself and the personal relationships involved. All in all worth a look and the movie itself got me interested in the whole caper and I may take a look at the book which I hope is a little more detailed and may explain the whole operation as it was formed and executed.
I also used to live in Medford. Know some of the places featured in the film. I had no idea this happened until watching the movie. It's an amazing true story and despite the quality ( a little B-movieish) I really enjoyed watching it. I wish there was more info about it online. I'd love to see a modern feature film made out of the story. Truth is stranger than fiction.
I have enjoyed Ed Asner for years and had hopes of seeing a fabulous actor developing through the years in Ray Sharkey. How sad that people who seem to be on a "gilded path" get detoured onto the "drug highway" that ends bright promises. I didn't believe that Sharkey was up to his usual abilities.
I enjoyed it but I wasn't madly in love with it. It has the feel of a made-for-TV movie. That said, it was entertaining and I have no regrets watching it; the movie ran at a fast enough pace that I wasn't looking at my watch wondering when it would end.
