I loved the live action TV show.
It's like Mayberry but with a snarky comedian and a town full of duffuses...
There's no sex, overt violence, or point, just mostly harmless dumb folks being mostly harmless and dumb and that's the beauty of the show.
When it comes to the animated series, I have to admit hearing the voiceovers was a little off putting at first. In the TV show they are recorded along with ambient sounds and other voices, but hearing them isolated like they are in the animated series is strange for some reason.
The first episode took me a bit to get into but now I am mostly done with season 1 and I look forward to watching the next episodes and season 2.
I am sad to hear about Janet Wright's passing, I liked her character, she seemed to balance the dad out.
The new lady they have voicing the mom, is ok, but she's no Janet.
The only complaint I have is that the father character went from like a 7 out of 10 in terms of complaining and hatred in the TV show to like 107 in the animated series. His character is now so over the top it's no longer funny, he's annoying.
One particular aspect of the animated series I really like is now when one of the characters daydreams about one of their fantasies, we get to go along with them.
I notice they took the bit out of the intro song about "watching your dog run away, it can take three days."
I suppose the folks of Saskatchewan got a little upset about that, but the fact remains, it's a pretty flat place...
