Features
Corsair Engineering and Quality Control
Every Corsair power supply is designed by our California engineering team and built to our exact specifications. The same care that goes into the design and testing of our renowned high-power enthusiast power supplies also goes into the CX Series Modular, because you need confidence and reliability regardless of your build budget.
Modular Cabling System
Since the peripheral power cables aren’t hard-wired to the power supply, you can connect only the cables you need for your exact configuration of PCI-E cards and storage devices. The rest of the cables stay in the box, and not in your PC’s case where they can add to the clutter and interfere with airflow.
Large-Diameter, Thermally Controlled Fan
Once you’ve installed a PSU, you shouldn’t have to think about it. Employing a thermally controlled fan makes the CX Series Modular quieter at idle, and the large diameter reduces noise even when you’re pushing your system hard.
Black Goes with Everything
You’re building a PC, not a battleship, and appearance counts. The matte black finish and all-black sleeved cables and connectors help give your system a high-tech, restrained look.

After about a few times of trying to diagnose the problem, I decided I wasn't going to risk my parts trying to figure it out. I thought maybe it was my motherboard, but had an idea that it most likely was the PSU. I ordered an EVGA PSU and this thing has been working wonderfully thus far. I'm glad the Corsair PSU didn't fry my things.
Corsair, your products just keep failing me. First time PSU bad experience, but a second time in a row? Never paying for your products again.
UPDATE:
I tried to get involved with CORSAIR’s damage claim department. They aren’t very clear or thorough. It’s like they don’t want to help you. Your power supply blew up my computer and it took you a long time to answer me back. I have to continue on complaining just so I can be heard which is ridiculous. They couldn’t help me because the original power supply was blown and I asked for a new one thinking it was just faulty but when I got the new one nothing worked. Corsair even though you’re in the bay area CA I am never supporting or buying your stuff anymore. I have bought items before but not like this. I don’t respect your customer service. I feel like there isn’t any integrity. I took a fat L but I’ll get back up. I had a hard time with amazon’s customer service as well as Corsair’s customer service. I never want to be dealing with that again. Good bye Corsair.
One word of advice, and this goes with ANY PSU that you install, please ensure you install the PSU with the cables supplied, do NOT be tempted to reuse the cables from your old PSU (going to the various drives and accessories) if this is a replacement. Sadly there is no set "standard" for the PSU side of the cable, unlike the drive end. If you try and re-use the installed existing cables, and the pin-out doesn't match on the PSU end (multi-meter can confirm if you really want to know) you could fry every component you connect to this. Even if the cable actually fits into the PSU it does not mean they are compatible by any means. Some people have come to find this out the hard way, and have thankfully shared their experience for everyone to learn (I am glad I checked before install)
Installation went as you would expect, it fit my case well, is the same dimensions as the 700w supply it was replacing. I cannot attest to the longevity of this unit yet, but will try and remember to update this in the future, once it has some hours on it. Good price, good brand and an easy install. what more can you ask?

That said, rather than return it for another one, I opted to take luck out of the equation and just cough up the extra $40 for one of their RM-series PSUs. If my review has anything to say at all, it's that I recommend you do the same. It just doesn't make sense to entrust $1000+ worth of electronics, and potentially the contents of your home, to luck of the draw.
