Normally Ainsley didn’t bother much with Christmas and all its trappings but this year she is excited to join in as most of the locals are prone to do. Of course it does put a bit of a damper on the festivities when a body is found in the tree lot where the gang had offered to help out, but that doesn’t stop Ainsley from making the most of the season in spite of the crazy investigation she can’t help but get pulled into.

This is the third in the Gooseberry Bay series. The series follows a young woman and she tries to unravel mystery of who her biological parents were. The only information she has at the start is some criptic entries in her adopted fathers journals and a picture. After the death of her adopted father she sets out to figure out who she is.
This series was actually kicked off in her Inn at Holiday Bay series.
These are clean, fairly complex mysteries with a significant number of red herrings thrown in. In some ways it is very similar to her Writer's Retreat mysteries.
The characters are interesting and it is set in a small town on the West Coast. There is a lot of emphasis in this one about the family you choose. The main character has a lot to adjust to having been adopted by a single father with no significant family. Think of it as a journey of discovery series.
As always and entertaining and engaging read.

I loved this new book in the series. Besides getting new information on the continuing mystery of Ainsley's background, there is a murder in the tiny village and Ainsley finds herself, along with her friends, once again involved in trying to solve the mystery.
Meanwhile there seems to be a bit of romance in Ainsley's life, as well as thoughts of settling in and embarking on a particular career in her new town.
Highly recommended.

She only has a picture of her sister and she and a strange woman. Will she finally find an answer to her life and a home in Gooseberry Bay? A delightful mystery with some romance and fabulous dogs in the mix.
