5.0 out of 5 starsLife Is Complicated

Requires focus to keep track of which life you are witnessing. Trying to understand what motivates a character's action and recognizing when motives change is the beauty of this terrific, exciting, a little bit demanding series. JK Simmons is impressive playing with a multi faceted identity, at once black and white, then sliding into shades of personality from which emerge the other. The cast is brilliant, good looking and, it appears, wholly immersed in their characters. The direction builds out complex characters while keeping the production wrapped tightly around the story. The sets are stark but cool. It's not slick or glitzy and has a somewhat somber, people dealing with hard lives sense, which for me feels honest. JK Simmons is something else.

1.0 out of 5 starsMore liberal subterfuge
10 minutes in, they cut to a scene of a gay bar, with 2 men kissing in the foreground. What this has to do with the plot, I can't imagine, other than more Hollywood programming.

1.0 out of 5 starsDon't rent if you have hearing issues

I rented this series because of the good reviews. I attempted to watch it 3 times and finally gave up. I have cc ability on my TV but was unable to access this feature on "Counterpart" rental. I tried over and over again thinking I was missing some remedy. Finally have given up and purchased the Season 1 dvd hopefully with cc capability. Missed at the least half the dialog. Money wasted.

5.0 out of 5 starsBinge worthy subtle sci-fi

A really good high stakes spy series. The acting is superb. Makes you think what you would be like on a parallel world. Who and what you would turn out to be. Simple actions, go left, go right etc. Suddenly you are confronted with that other world.

Really looking forward to binge watching the entire season 2.

5.0 out of 5 starsThought Provoking, Subtle and Awesome Sci-Fi

I didn't know what to expect from Counterpart, but was pleasantly surprised. It's no nail-biter and actor awesome as The Man in the High Castle, but it's close and pretty out there as far as understated science fiction with contemporary grit. The alternate universe in your face is a great premise.
