A Court of Honey and Ash (The Honey and Ice Series Book 1) Kindle Edition
I’m still just Alli, aka the half-human orphan fae, but my life is looking up for the first time. It only took me my whole 24 years.
But when Underhill—the ancestral home of the fae—shatters, making it impossible for any fae to enter, I’m the only one who knows who did it.
A secret that will be the death of me if I do nothing.
A brutal madness spreads through the fae as they lose their connection to Underhill, and to save my people, my only choice is to leave all I have fought for and go on the run.
Unless I figure out how the hell magic that has existed since the dawn of time was destroyed with a single touch, well, an entire life spent fighting to prove myself isn’t going to mean anything at all.I must find the answer to the riddle of Underhill’s shattering.
Hunted by the very man I loved once upon a time.
If you love Jennifer L. Armentrout, Sarah J. Mass, Holly Black or Elise Kova, you will love this dive into a world of the fae, forbidden love, and a story that will leave you breathless for more.

We follow a kick ass heroine who has had a rough life to say the least. An unwanted orphan who just happens to have a crazy amount of power. But being a mutt she's been pushed down, abused, and had to work harder than jist about everyone else. Of course noone knows who's bloodline she really carries or maybe they'd see her differently. (Nope I'm not telling you either.) She's got her ride or die sister, a frienemy (you'll see) and a band of misfits. You learn to love characters, then hate them, then love them again. More than once I was groaning in frustration over...well let's just say manly attitudes. Alli is going to be a force to be reckoned with as we follow her story. Can't wait for the next installment!
If you enjoy stories involving the fae, or spicy, strong heroines with daddy abandonment issues, or Alaska, this book is for you.
All I knew when I picked it up was that it was set in Alaska, and written by two favorite authors. I didn't particularly love fae-based stories, although I didn't avoid them, either (looking at you zombie books). I always enjoy bad a** female leads who know how to take care of themselves, no matter what the age of the character. So I thought to myself, "meh, why not try it out. Its something knew at least until Shannon's next Forty Proof book comes out."
And then it was 4 a.m. and I was halfway through it and realizing I had to get up to adult in two hours. And pouting because all I wanted to do a as keep reading, responsibilities be damned!
Oh, and Alli's best friend will make you hungry, be forewarned. And you might just see an old friend from another Shannon-verse, too.
This is a story told of Fae life in a fae world, blended with the human world by old treaties. Now the fae realm has disappeared. How our fae are going to fix that is this story.
Kallik, our MC, is 24 with 24 year old hormones and angst. She is an orphan with big daddy issues and not a lot of confidence in her magic. Her best friend, Hyacinth, is both loyal and a great baker, making this reader hungry by the descriptions of her creations. The subject of Kallik’s angst is Faolan, bound to the Unseelie court. Of course Kallik is bound to the Seelie court. Typical Romeo and Juliet issues abound. Supporting characters are beautifully drawn.
World building and character development are very strong here. Both of the authors are very talented in that area in my opinion. One of them authored my very favorite series. I can’t recommend these ladies enough. I can’t wait to see how this series develops.
I knew combining two of my favorite authors was going to be good, but it's even better than I could've hoped for! :)
Leave all your assumptions behind, because nothing is quite what it seems in this badass book! It has it all...kick-ass heroine, orphans, explosions, daddy issues, hilarious bestie, baked goods, brooding bad boy, a couple douche canoes...oh, and did I mention giants!
I loved all of it and laughed so hard. Of course, now I'm craving tarts and tickles!!
Just read it, you will not regret it. My only sadness is in having to wait for the next book. Pretty please let this be more than a trilogy! I need these characters in my life.
Thank you, Shannon and Kelly!!!

A Court of Honey and Ash (The Honey and Ice Series Book 1)
These Authors have written this book with one shared brain, I'm certain, because it's flawless!😍 We start it in the Fae world of Underhill where we meet Kallik aka Alli. She's in a trial with 30+ other orphaned or unclaimed fae. They're trying to gain their places in the Fae society after 8 years of training. Once they've all finished they have to swear an oath to Underhill, it's performed by the Seelie Court's Oracle. When Underhill shatters as Alli swears her oath, the earth shakes & all fae, Seelie & Unseelie alike, are in danger. Alli especially!!😳💥
I absolutely loved this story & it's character's. Alli & her sister from another mister Cinth, are funny together but also so loyal & honest, even when it's something hard.🙏 I loathed a few character's, they're easy to spot, trust me!😡 Faolan aka Lan, is a man with layers and I need him peeled!😂 He's super sexy, brooding & the whole forbidden thing is just so yummy.😋 Ruby is a big surprise & I think Drake has more to give.😉
This is a cross of epic & urban fantasy I'd say. There's so much scope left in the story & especially the world's these two Author's are building. I'm as drawn to that as I am the people, story, creatures & of course the magic!😍 There are secrets swirling around Alli & possibly Lan, too.😲 It ended on such a dramatic hook that I'm chomping at the bit for book #2 already. That dream though? It's got me thinking.😀🌟

I devoured A court of Honey and ash in one night and honestly I already want to read it again.
We are literally thrown straight into the action on the first page! Fighting, sweat, dragons with far too many heads and hints of a vast backstory that is going to be fun to unravel.
Kallik 'Alli' is the main character, an orphaned half fae, half human who is fighting for her place in the world and trying to figure out what her power is along the way.
The stakes are high for Alli as she is put through the absolute ringer, there are times you will be on the edge of your seat.
If you like strong leads, the kind of best friend that we all need, all things fae, and slooow burn romance then you will love this book.
The wait for book two is going to be a bit unbearable to be honest.
Alli is everything I love in a heroine, the world building and the unfolding story are everything I hoped for! Fans of both these incredible authors will thoroughly enjoy A Court of Honey and Ash. It’s a wonderful five star read 🤩
