I enjoyed reading Mitchell and Lauren story. Mitchell and a few other men inherited a ranch if they fixed up an old runned down hotel in town. Which in turned made Mike angry. Which he turned to his wife, Lauren, to vent his frustrations with his fists. After suffering for 12 years she figured she could hold out until her daughter left, but that meant 6 more years of hell. Until one night everything came to a head and Mike wanted her gone, he was going to kill her. Meredith, Lauren daughter, did the only thing she could think of and that was to turn to her father's enemy for help. Mitchell still had residue feelings for Lauren even after all those years. He didn't think twice he went to save her. With Mike gone Lauren had to pick up the pieces of her life. This was a sad but truly heartwarming story. There is always light at the end of every tunnel. With a patiently waiting HEA. This story could be read as a standalone since it is the first in the series. It is a well written story with many twists to keep you coming back for more. I highly recommend this story and anything that Serena Meadows has written. She is a talented author who doesn't disappoint!!
