"I do what I want, when I want, where I want. As long as I do it before eight, because that’s my bedtime. -Desi’s secret thoughts"
This!! This is why I love this author's books. This is why I love this series, and this is why I will continue to read LLV. If I could give this book more than 5 stars, I absolutely would. Desi is Codie's best friend whom we meet in Herd That. Her vindictive and cheating ex-husband has been making her life absolute hell and to top it all off, his new fiancee is wearing her Grandmother's ring. Just as Desi is about to throw down, delectable Callum Valentine swoops in like the Knight in shining armor that he is to save her sanity. He's had his eye on her since they've met and he's more than wiling to show her that not every guy is like her ex. Even if it means helping her show up her ex by running in a marathon. With the help of the Valentine family, her best friend Codie, and her adorable father in law, Desi soon realizes that these people love her and that they are exactly what she needs in her life, surrounded by unconditional love. And oh boy, do they do a phenomenal job. The Valentine family is so supportive and the whole scene with the marathon gives major feels.
Callum claims her as his from the start and does everything to show Desi that he loves every curve. Swoon. This is the hottest of LLV's books and I was loving it. OMG, the heat level was off the charts. This book had all the feels; the heat, the love, the banter and the family togetherness make this a new favorite read. And I mean like top five, for sure. I adored it so much and I actually immediately started rereading once I was done because I really didn't want it to end. Ten stars, hands down.
After reading Georgia and Nico's book Double Tap, and finding out that Gerogia's brother's were getting their own series I had actually been excited about it.
But somewhere along the way if I'm being completely honest here I kinda fell into an LLV book funk. All of Mrs. Vale's books became the same to me and reading them became a bit tedious for me. In fact so much so that I decided to take a break from reading Mrs. Vale's books for a while. Even finishing Fries before Guy's was a task for me. I haven't even read Ace and Codie's story yet and figured I'd probably just skip this series and maybe come back to it at a later time.
But there was a chapter preview of this book at the end of Fries before Guy's and something about Desi's character called to me. And even though I didn't know what book or what series she was in, I knew I had to read it. And as soon as this book released and I realized it was Desi's I bought it right away.
I have to say this is the first time in a long time that I have devoured one of Mrs. Vale's books the way I devoured this one. I didn't want to stop reading it for anything.
This book is different from all her other books and is on the more lighthearted side. I'm not sure if Ace and Codie's is the same way as I haven't read it. But I just loved Desi and Callum's character's. And there were definitely laugh out loud moments for me in this book which hasn't happened in a while for me.
But anyway's this review has turned into a big long ramble so I'm ending it on this note. Not sure if I'll be reading Banks book or not. But I do know i'm probably going to be checking out Darby's book.
I'm giving this book 4 Stars out of 5!!!
Crazy Heifer pairs Desi, a newly divorced woman finding herself after an awful marriage to an unfaithful, narcissistic man. Her ex is horrible, and he seems to live to torment her. Callum rides in to her rescue during one run-in with him, and I fell hard for this couple right then and there. Where her ex tore her down, Callum builds her up. Desi is strong in her own right, and I loved her upbeat positive outlook. This couple was so sexy together, they were so supportive of each other, so right for each other.
Vale could have gone in a lot of different directions with the Valentine Boys series. Considering their heavy, painful past, I’m glad she’s taken a lighter approach in telling their stories. Full of heart, heat and humor, Vale turns heart-break in happily ever after with a sweet, sexy love story between a cowboy and a baker. I loved it. Five smooches from me for Crazy Heifer by Lani Lynn Vale!

Callum and Desi are perfect for each other.....if only his brothers and her ex-husband would leave them alone they could ignore the world and get on with their lives...but life is not that simple.
It may be a bumpy ride through verbal abuse and public shaming, surviving the 'Valentine Clan' meal times, sexy porn watching, jewellery stealing, christening the barn shower sex and Spartan training but throughout it all Callum has Desi's back and is her biggest supporter. Whilst the Valentine's are loud and crazy, they are also family and family comes first...every time. It will bring a tear to your eye when Desi realises she has finally found her family - the one she has never had but always craved...even Callum's nephews don't hesitate to defend her when Mal steps out of line. It was so good to see Mal finally get his comeuppance- I really hate that guy, you cannot believe someone as amazing as Malloy can have a son like Mal, so glad Malloy had Desi's back and protected her.
This was another sensory overloading, whirlwind visit to Kilgore complete with plenty of steamy sex and dirty talking cowboys - my favourite kind of visit! I cannot wait for more!
I adore Lani Lynn Vale’s books and I like the fact that this is set in one of the towns that we’ve come to know in other series. We met Desi in the first book as she is Codie’s BFF and from glimpses in Herd That we knew that her ex was a twat off the highest order and a bully to boot but reading what she’d had to deal with made me hurt for her.
Callum hasn’t had the easiest of times himself (as you’ll know if you’ve already started the series) but he was a really good, caring, loyal guy and pretty much was smitten from the first time he saw Desi and set out to get to know her.
There was an attraction between the pair from the get go, the heat between them was combustible and I loved that he was open and candid about his likes when it came to her (and how she saw herself). I liked how comfortable they became together and the speed at which their relationship developed didn’t feel rushed or too much.
Some of LLV’s chapter heading had me chuckling hard!!!!
Crazy Heifer is a solid 4.5* read and a great addition to the series. I’m looking forward to Chute Yeah and finding out what Banks did that’s got his ‘lady love’ spitting feathers any times she sees him!!!
Desi and Callum are just the sweetest. Desi bless her sweet soul is just going through it when Callum comes charging into her life barrelling to her defense against her horrid ex and his piece of fluff. These two, they just balance eachother out in best way. It all happened so organically that nothing ever felt out of place or forced between them. Desi has this natural ability to make people fall in love with her. That calm sweet caring nature just pulled people in. Callum was definitely that strong loyal capable man that put her at ease and built her confidence up in the best ways. Of course it isn't all smooth sailing. It never is. Lani had me all up in my feels in all kinds of ways. And of course the side characters of it all. All the future possibilities!!. I'm excited.
I'm really loving this series as a whole so far!. It's got a little of everything to take you on a emotional rollercoaster but leaves you stated and so in love with the whole journey at the end.
Desi is as sweet as the icing on her cakes, and after the idiot she was married to, I’m so happy for her that she caught Callum’s eye.
There was so much good in this story, the beauty of finding a family not through blood, but through love, overrides everything. Each and every Valentine and friend that were praising and helping Desi along, will forever hold a special place in my heart. No one more so than Malloy though, the father she should have had, and had for longer, so bittersweet.
Another 5* hit. Now after meeting here here I’m dying to start Banks and Candy’s story.
Been waiting ages for the Valentine guys after they were in nico & Georgia's book in the swat series.
Callum spots Desi in a diner being hassled by her ex & his new girlfriend, sitting down to show support the friendship goes from there.
Book slightly overlaps with 1st book (Ace & Codie) and we see the damage done by her ex and how Desi sees herself,Callum is awesome and super sexy & sweet! Even the other brothers show their loyalty and sweeter side! Even Nicos kids!!!! Lol
LLV manages to make you feel all the emotions for the characters, it may be love or hate or something in-between but you will feel it.
But this is about Callum and Desi and from the start these two had chemistry. Mel Desis ex was giving her a hard time, Callum who liked
Desi on sight didnt like that sort of thing and stepped in and pronounced that she was his girlfriend. From there these two have a wonderful love, family helps out and protects Desi. Mels dad is dying from cancer and Mel just wont leave her alone.
Sad and funny moments make this a 5 star rating
