The Blu-Ray has no region coding and looks fantastic

Sony has seen fit to never give us a Blu-Ray in the U.S. so this import will fit the bill. There is no region/zone coding so it will play just fine. The 1080p image is quite nice and while likely from an older 2K scan, it does look terrific. The negatives are the menu (weird to navigate) and the subtitles, which are entirely too large of a font. Why do studios give us gigantic subtitles? Oh well.

No English Subtitles

This is a review of this version of the bluray since it's being advertised on the US site. I bought this because the US market does not have a bluray version available yet. Normally most foreign market discs I've bought have English subtitles. This one does not. If that matters to you, don't buy this release. One start to warn other buyers.

If you are adventurous, you can download a subtitles file and remux it into an mp4. It takes a little effort to figure out. You can find an SRT file on subtitledb. Com. And then use handbrake or equivalent to burn in the subtitles.

Ultimately Nonsensical

This is a well-produced film, however it's not a very well-written film. The plot makes sense only as long as you don't actually think about it. But Jean Reno and Vincent Cassel both turn in likeable, interesting performances and the suspense is fairly well-maintained. A fine Saturday afternoon matinee...

ok perfect camshots and effects that worth watching but jean reno's and vincent's outstanding play ain't enough to save the film 'cause the scenario has been too much simplified when comparing with author-Grange's book. Well, to tell the truth, i'm a bit disappointed with the film anyway it was gorgeous to see Jean Reno again after his stunning play with "Leon or The Professional"

I bought this on the general run of modern French cinema movies, starting with Red Riding Hood (very Dark horror), Frontiers (Darker Horror), and the ridiculously priced £2.98 fantastically realised French adaptation of an American Thriller "Tell No One".

I was hoping that Crimson Rivers would be as good as Tell No One and to be fair, it was not bad but not to be watched soon after Tell No One.

Crimson Rivers is beautifully filmed and the plot was gripping, the French background adding a slightly disonant familiarity which was explained when the "making of" featurette showed what vistas and views had been CGI'd (Doh!). However, the denoument used a plot device that annoyed me. You will have to watch the film to see if it does the same for you. Would I have bought it knowing what I do now, yes.

My copy gave me a variety of options, I chose French language with English subtitles. On the whole the story wasn't brilliant, but the acting of the two leads was very good and it was always watchable. I'll hang on to this one.

Den Film kenne ich. Super Story und Umsetzung. Jean Reno ist ein toller Schauspieler. Leider läuft die heute gelieferte Blu-Ray nicht. Daten sind drauf aber kein BD konformes Format auf der Disk. Der Player kann die BD nicht lesen. Habe ich an 2 Playern getestet

Réalisation de Mathieu Kassovitz, le film tiré d'un livre est quand même bien construit et réserve quelques surprises !! L'interprétation de Jean Reno et de Vincent Cassel est bonne et crédible, par contre pas celle de Nadia Farès qui surjoue pendant tout le film !! L'idée du film est bonne qui aborde un sujet peu connu qui est l'eugénisme et nous fait plonger dans un monde de la recherche perpétuelle de la perfection !! Même si le film ne casse pas des briques et que la fin est un peu tiré par les cheveux, on passe un bon moment avec nos 2 protagonistes que l'on prend beaucoup de plaisir à voir faire équipe !!
