If you put the next papers in it too quickly before it finishes the last paper, it just stops a second then continues to shred. I did an 8 page shred test ( see pics) and it shred them no problem. I had bins of 5 yrs of accumulated receipts of different kinds and was able to shred them which took days, but the continuous run time is only about 10 to 15 minutes before the overheat light comes on. Then it takes 40 minutes to cool down before light goes off. It was annoying with a short shred time but I got it done. The basket should have been bigger, needed to empty frequently because of alot of shredding. I did find that by shredding more than three pages at a time, a whole stack, it would overheat faster. The noise level is ok, seems a little less noisy than my old one. It is a good unit though. I will however be purchasing a second shredder, but one that 'auto-feeds' a stack of pages.
