I enjoyed reading this latest book in this series. This one featured Jazz (alpha werewolf) and Shawna (human woman). The main characters were likeable, as were the secondary ones. I liked that Shawna was one human you didn't mess with. Some of the secondary characters were from the first two books in this series. Spoilers ahead:
Jazz & Shawna knew each other when they were young. Shawna was adopted by a werewolf family (can't remember what happened to her human family). Shawna & her family moved away when she was 15 because the alpha at that time had absurd views on humans & werewolves mating and he noticed that his alpha son, Jeremiah (now Jazz) recognized Marcy (now Shawna) as his mate. His dad didn't like that and he & his pack enforcers attacked Shawna to put scars on her back to show that she would only ever be a pack whore & never a mate. Her family moved away after that; Shawna & Jazz never saw each other again until at least 10 to 15 years later. She was now a werewolf hunter who only hunted werewolves who killed, or badly hurt, humans. Jazz and Desmon (from another book in this series) were now co-alphas of the Nightwind Pack after Desmon killed Jazz's father & Jazz killed the enforcers, after learning about what they did to Shawna. You'll have to read the story to see how they met again after she'd killed a werewolf she was hunting. In all the time they were apart, Jazz never forgot about Shawna and had looked for her for years. So imagine his surprise when he heard she was now a werewolf hunter.
There was plenty of danger from the Goodwin Pack, and a big fight with them at the end, trying to take the Nightwind Pack's land for themselves. New characters joined the pack who weren't werewolves, that I'm sure we'll be seeing their stories in future books in this series. I loved the interaction between Shawna & Jazz as they cleared up misconceptions and finally found their HEA; the sex was hot though not the main focus, their getting to know each other again was.
I will say the one thing I don't like about this series is that the human woman was always turned into a werewolf, supposedly so she could protect herself against other shifters if they attack her (surprisingly to me at least, the human woman always wanted that too). I thought Shawna did just fine as a human in the big fight at the end. Since Nightwind is supposed to be a progressive pack, meaning they take in outcast shifters (werewolf or other kinds) and have no problem with pack members mating humans, personally I don't think the women need to be changed. Like Shawna, they can use guns/knives/silver bullets/their brains/whatever...in other words, just show them how to defend themselves against shifters. There were only a few grammatical errors.
