Blog postToday I'm interviewing Christy Mann, author of Fogoyle, some seriously scary stories. Here's a bit about her in her own words.
I’m Christy. I’m old enough to know better about most things but still young enough to do them anyway. I’m single as well, so I actually get to do them. Blog postHere's a sample from the first chapter of A Change In Crime, my Supernatural Suspense set in 1929. It's got monsters at odds with the Mafia on the streets of Depression-Era Fall River, Massachusetts. It was just a piece of paper, dated November 27, 1929, but it felt heavier than an anvil. The red ink stamped across the carbon copy of his application to the United States Armed Forces looked greenish-black in the street light. Blog postSometimes, I review the books I read. Here's one I read over the summer. It's December and I read this book back in July. Well, book is sort of a misnomer here. It's actually a script for a stage production. Titles By D.R. Perry
I never feared flying. It's the falling part that sucks.
Mom took everything from me in my first year of high school. In the second, I lost almost everything I'd built since. With my best friend Ed's help, I spent the summer getting up again.
Ed's the chosen one in some ancient prophecy and he’s changed for good. That makes sense, but I’m not yet sure if it’s for the better. With my brother sidelined in the hospital, and all our other friends preparing for both exams and war in the faerie realm, I’ve got to help him figure it out alone.
But all that’s a piece of cake compared to the third, more personal threat. My murderous mother and her enslaved packmates, including some of our teachers. Meeting the challenges they present means beating enormous odds, and I’m not sure I have enough momentum to fully escape her orbit.
Gravity was made for defying. But am I strong enough to do it?

Free bird? Don't make me laugh.
I'm Mavis Merlini and I want out. Of my shady family, this rowdy school, maybe even the world.
My brother got kicked out of Gallows Hill School for inciting mermaid violence. I'm determined to cut out all distractions and be the first of my six siblings to actually graduate. Which means living on campus and ignoring my extroverted roommate.
All my plans are doomed to failure when a goth lion shifter in a trench coat drops his feather. Of course I pick it up. It's shiny and I'm a raven shifter. I swear I meant to give it back. But now it's magically bonded to me and I can't. Now I've got obligations to a Faerie Monarch on top of everything else. And if I shirk them, I'll spend a hundred years in his dungeon.
Can I soar through this double life, or will I end up failing to launch?

Even in a storm, this bird's got to sing.
I'm on a Quest with my brother and our friends for the Faerie Monarchs. Between that and trying to pass another year of school, family drama's going on the back burner.
Last year Mom kicked me out but I refused to go crawling back like she expected. In court over the summer, she lets me go with one major string attached. But I can't wait around for her to pull it.
Navigating all this is like flying through thunder clouds. One of them's bound to have a silver lining. Unless my toxic family robs me of everything golden in my life.

Life sucks and then you die. Sort of.
Valentino Crispo loves Mom’s Italian cooking, sun on the beach, and working for the Cranston Police Department. He loses it all after getting vamped. Now, he’s the noobiest vampire in Providence.
This collection includes the complete four-book Supernatural Vigilante Society at a great price!
Be Counted
When a hitwoman apparently shoots Valentino Crispo's dad and one of Cranston’s Finest on the same night, Tino stops letting vampirism bite him. He’ll mix supernatural and PD skills to solve the crime. But he hasn’t got the hang of being a vampire yet.
The mystery of whodunit and why is tied up with Tino’s own turning. The Providence vampire elders hate nosy vamps almost as much as new ones. Will Valentino stand up and be counted or add to the body count?
Body Count
Valentino Crispo’s just started sinking his fangs into unlife as a vampire. He’s got a decent start in his new PI business, too. Cases walk through the door and he solves them with a little help from his paranormal pals and the vigilante hobby they’ve got on the side. Wash, rinse, repeat.
But there’s big trouble in the little Ocean State. Powerful nouns in the supernatural community are going missing. These people, places, and things threaten to leave a power vacuum in their absence. Tino and his gang don’t like the crew likely to step in and fill it, either.
It gets personal when an old enemy shows up, asking the Supernatural Vigilante Society to help hide a tween psychic who knows too much about what’s fishy in Providence. Are Tino and his friends in too deep this time? Can they stop the body count from rising or will they go out with the tide?
Counting Costs
There’s no fortune in favors owed.
After saving a king but losing a kingdom, Tino’s up to his fangs in debt. But he doesn’t owe money. A vampire’s word is his bond. When a rival, a witch, and a hunter all call in their markers at the same time, Tino’s suddenly got a metric ton promises to keep.
To keep his vows, Providence’s newest vampire must find missing memories, adopt an orphan, and cure a comatose fiance. Sounds easy, right? Wrong. The Mafia’s standing in his way at every turn. And the holes in his own recall are a total roadblock.
Meeting obligations is impossible if they’re forgotten. Can Tino pay his debts without cashing in his unlife?
Counting Stars
Undead stars still burn.
Still adjusting to recent changes, Tino Crispo, vampire PI, saddles himself with a new case. An ailing friend charges him with investigating a series of mysterious assaults.
Rhode Island’s youngest vampire has to balance his work life and new domestic responsibilities. With his extended supernatural family counting on him, he’ll need help. Which is in short supply.
Tino’s biggest advantage is his circle of friends. But the threads he follows in this case seem connected to some of his closest allies. Who can he trust?

The voice in my head is positive I'm not evil. But I'm not so sure.
Note: Acting In Kindness was originally published as a part of the megabook, Hawthorn Academy: Year One.
I considered my family one of the most respected in Salem's extrahuman community. I was only half right. On the first day at Hawthorn Academy, I found myself judged by strangers for my uncle's infamous evil deeds.
To make matters worse, it turns out I'm an extramagus just like him, able to conjure more than one element like other magi. Extrahumans worldwide give thanks this is a rare trait. A power that always leads to corruption, they say. Considering I'm hearing a voice in my head, they might be right.
I could lose the only two friends I've made so far if they find out. Losing my mind might be preferable. At least my dragonet Ember believes in me.Is my fate certain, or can I rise above it and the stigma of what I am?

We all start as strangers. Why does that make me so nervous?
Note: Familiar Strangers was originally published as a part of the megabook, Hawthorn Academy: Year One.
I can't imagine life without Mom, Dad, Bubbe or my friends in Salem. And that's what I'll be living at Hawthorn Academy, the campus between worlds. But Hawthorn Academy's the place to be if I want to join the family business as a veterinarian for magic critters.
It's magi only at my new school, so I'm going without my besties. The only person I'll know there is my snarky big brother. At least I've already bonded with a familiar. But my dragonet means I'm destined for above average power levels.
The last thing I want to do is scare people off. You only get one chance at first impressions, after all.
But will I make friends or enemies?

Greater Than a Tourist—Providence Rhode Island USA by D.R. Perry offers the inside scoop on Providence. Most travel books tell you how to travel like a tourist. Travel like a local. Slow down, stay in one place, and get to know the people and the culture. By the time you finish this book, you will be eager and prepared to travel to your next destination.
How far is too far to stop a threat?
Note: Light of Equality was originally published as a part of the megabook, Hawthorn Academy: Year Two.
My first friend at Hawthorn was Dylan Khan. He's had the short end of the stick all year. After being dumped, he keeps getting into fights. On top of that, he's got to give service with a smile at the campus cafe.
When a familiar gets poisoned, Dylan's the first suspect. Why are they blaming the air magus? Because it turns out he's an extramagus like me. But without my family history or connections, his abilities are unknown.
The playing field's tilted against him.
To clear his name, Dylan must endure a torturous test. I know he's innocent, but the witness won't come forward.

It's always the quiet ones.
Note: Fire of Justice was originally published as a part of the megabook, Hawthorn Academy: Year One.
I've finally found my footing at Hawthorn Academy. Friends, classes, and my dragonet make it fun. I'm even playing a magical sport. Everything's perfect.
Except it's not. The voice in my head persists through it all, and it's nearly impossible to keep my extra powers secret. I'm worried the wrong people will notice. Like someone poisonous.
The quietest guy in class, Alex Onassis, pays way too much attention to me. He's Greek nobility so he can't want a Jewish girl from a stateside tourist town. My roommate thinks it's harmless flirting. My big brother doesn't like it, but won't say why.
I figure it's got something to do with my extra powers. But does he want a harmless date or something more sinister? What do I do if he starts trouble?
