Mindy and Fox have a rough start - with Mindy on the rebound from her body-shaming ex and Fox dismissive of a beautiful woman wanting boot-camp style fitness training - but they quickly find common ground. Mindy's a delightful character - smart, bubbly but terribly insecure about her body. It's sad to see her hurt herself in a quest live up to societal norms. Those scenes felt all too realistic: who hasn't been tempted by the lure of painless, "instant" weight-loss or discouraged by weight-gain after one night of "cheating" on the diet?
Fox's response is wonderful and the discipline scenes are great. The secondary characters are nicely developed and here's hoping for a romance between Tim and the irrepressible Jenna!
The end felt rushed to me, though, and that's why it dropped a star. Mindy and Fox's issues were a little too neatly resolved, too quickly, after being brought to a head by Mindy's health crisis. There's no cliffhanger - this is a complete story - and that attracted me to this book even though the author is new to me, because I'm thoroughly sick of cliffhangers. But I'd have liked a little more realistic ending to the story, since everything leading up to the ending felt so authentic.
I will definitely read more by this author and am looking forward to the next book in the series.
Mindy Kirkman is an intelligent woman, works as a CPA, owns her own home, and cares about her appearance. She isn’t your typical stick thin woman; she has sexy curves. She has been dating Todd for a year, and he is such a self-absorbed person, makes remarks about how she needs to lose weight.
The plot will have Mindy and Todd going out to dinner, and she believes he is ready to pop the question and instead he breaks up with her over dinner.
“This just isn’t going to work for me. I gave you a year, but you still haven’t shown me you’re serious about losing weight.” –Todd
The shock of the breakup will become the catalyst for Mindy to decide to join a gym and get a personal trainer. She will see a sign in a gym and go in to sign up. The owner, Fox Washburn, is gruff, while he can’t refuse women, he doesn’t encourage them either. Mindy’s tenacity in place, she makes a deal with him about doing his book work for his personal training.
Both Mindy and Fox are shocked about their feelings for each other, but each keeps them hidden for a while. Fox sees her as curvy and perfect, and Mindy loves his dominance. It will take him catching her overexerting herself on a rest day to catapult this relationship into gear. When he makes a treat that he ought to punish her, she challenges him back that yes he should. When he takes her to his apartment for the spanking, it fits into both their fantasy’s but when he calls her little girl, and she calls him Daddy, the dynamics take a new spin, and thus begins their journey.
“You are so much more precious than you realize. I hope one day you’ll see that.”
The more Mindy works at training, the more her body improves, and her clothes fit, but she is so discouraged about what the scales show for actual weight loss. Then a snide remark from others has her seeking better ways to drop the pounds, but that leads to health risk. Has the goals that Mindy wants to achieve, are they for herself, for her health, or to make Todd jealous? When Fox tells her he loves her curves and that she is beautiful, why can’t she accept it as the truth? The reality of the story is that body shaming leads to doubt and disappointments. Will secrets destroy this new relationship?
I love the chemistry and DD/lg dynamics between Fox and Mindy. He calls her Princess and has her best interest at heart. He isn’t afraid to punish her or make love to her, and he sees her as beautiful. She is learning to acquiesce to her Daddy, and when she is with him, she feels beautiful. The story has many punishments and explicit sex scenes.
Todd, she never quite lived up to his high expectations.Despite this, she was shocked and hurt when he
ended their relationship. Her future up in flames,Mindy made a snap decision when she entered Fox Washburn's gym.Fox loved Mindy's curves and set up a healthy exercise and eating plan for her to follow.
Raised by her mother,Mindy has an empty space inside her heart for a daddy and Fox pulls at the little
girl hidden deep inside her,the one who still believes in fairytales.Fox is a strict daddy and Mindy finds
herself over his knees on many occasions. He will not put up with her risking her safety or telling lies,he has a number of implements to impart painful lessons on his little girl.Fox had his hands full with Mindy,
ugly doubts are at war inside her and she takes extreme measures to lose weight with dangerous
consequences.Fox loved taking care of Mindy, she was the right blend of a mature adult and a naughty
little girl. This is a story of hope and new beginnings,i loved the dynamics between Mindy and Fox,despite
difficult circumstances they remained loyal. There was many subtle moments in this story which captured
the depth of emotions of both characters.I look forward to the next book in this series.
My favorite part of this book was Mindy not being a skinny woman. I loved how she has a curvy shape.
The begins with Mindy and Todd going out to dinner, and she believes he is ready to pop the big question and instead he breaks up with her over her weight and how it looks on him.
The shock and disbelief of the breakup causes Mindy to decide to join a gym and hire a personal trainer. Fox Washburn is the owner/ personal trainer, he is not thrilled with Mindy wanting to workout in his gym with his help.
Mindy and Fox begin to have feelings for each other. Fox sees her as a smart woman with the perfect curvy body. Mindy craves his dominance. He punishes her for over doing it and not listening to his advice. The punishment starts the relationship in the direction of a DD/lg dynamic. Fox is a strict daddy and Mindy finds herself punished many times and explicit sex scenes.
This story will resonate with a lot of the readers who have body issues. This author understands not a one size fits all, And Curvy women need a strong man just like any other size woman.
