Danger Close (Drop Trooper Book 3) Kindle Edition
For three years, he’s fought the marauding alien Tahni on one God-forsaken planet after another, leading a squad of armored Drop Troopers.
But the war is about to change.
Cam is an officer now, fresh out of OCS and taking charge of his old platoon, and things have reached a tipping point. Instead of fighting a desperate holding action against the enemy, the Commonwealth is finally ready to take back the human colonies the Tahni seized early in the war. To free the people the enemy have kept as human shields.
However, victory comes at a price. Both for the hostage colonists and the Marines who fight to free them. When innocent lives are at stake, every shot fired is danger close…

Great book, the characters draw you in and make you want to get to know them better. Can’t wait for book four!
These stories combine these two elements into such compelling tales, I find I’m reading them all the time. And I will continue to read this series and enjoy! Thank you Rick Partlow!! Wonderful work.
Cam has managed to reach the age of 23 but the physical and emotional scars keep building up.
We get lots of high volume, up-close battle in this excellent series. We also get enough of a personal story with Cam and his fellow Marines that we actually give a hoot if the alien enemy, nasty suckers, turn them into dissipated molecules or not.
If you like your military science fiction over on the edge of heart-thumping action, this is the series for you. I highly recommend this for fans of the genre. If you want long, twisting introspection and indecision by a character with blue hair sitting in his PJs and wondering about the nature of existence, you can skip this series.
There was one reviewer that scored the book five or maybe four stars, but spent most of the review saying how tough it was to get through especially within the isolation and despair of COVID-19. I have to say that I do feel the emotional drain. But I think that is also a testimony to the quality of the writing. You become invested in the characters and their loss hits you. Still, I have to agree that while I will move on to the next book in the series, I think I need to read something a little lighthearted first.
This book does not disappoint! The three books in the series remain very progressive in storyline/plot, the excitement increasing with every chapter! You’ll enjoy reading this series and this book!
