Great for social skills
Verified purchase
I let my 3 year old watch this show. He enjoys it and I love seeing him apply the social skills day to day. I even found ideas for our activites from this show.
This show teaches social skills and repeats the various skills by applying them to different senerios. Showing children that some actions can help multiple situations.

Great Lessons for Young Children
Verified purchase
I have a 2 1/2 year old great grandson whose parents wisely limit his "screen" time, but Daniel's Neighborhood is certainly included in the allowed viewing. There are so many good lessons taught....solving one's own problems when possible, treating others with respect, how to relate to younger children (he will almost immediately be welcoming a little sister), and sharing time and ideas with friends. A carry-over from my favorite guy, Fred Rogers.

Children and parents - bless Mr. Roger's legacy
Verified purchase
Best show for 2-4 year olds and their parents! This program continues and even enhances Fred Rogers philosophy in dealing with children. Each episode focusses on an issue that young children are likely to face: a baby sitter, a new sibling, frustration about sharing etc. It not only shows the kids what emotions they may experience - but give parents great strategies to use.

Great lessons that stick with young children
Verified purchase
My 3 year old loves Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood. I can tell that she grasps the concepts of the different lessons because she will randomly sing some of the songs on her own ("clean-up, pick-up, put away", "go potty right away", "you can take a turn, then I'll get it back", etc.). My daughter was the typical hysterical toddler when getting a shot. Before her last doctors appointment, immediately before we left, I played the episode for her where DT's Mom explains to him that he will be getting a shot and tells him to think of something nice. My daughter told the doctor, "I'll think of something else" and didn't shed a tear - even the doctor was shocked. For that, I will forgive all of the obnoxious 'Meow-Meows'. If I could give this show platinum status, I would.

It seems to teach good manners and healthy eating habits

My 2 and half your old niece absolutely loves this show, every episode of every season. She talks about each episode as if Daniel and the other characters have real lives. It seems to teach good manners and healthy eating habits. Very gentle and colorful script presentations.
