Sandu Berdardi continues to exist only to protect his people. An ancient Carpathian, his entire long life has been dedicated to honor above all else. He knows his time has passed, especially since he has not been able to find his lifemate—the anchor to keep him sane in a world he no longer understands. But just as he truly starts to give up hope, a voice reaches out to him in the night and his world explodes into color.
Adalasia enters Sandu’s mind seamlessly, as if she has been a part of him forever. While she can see the shape of things to come in her deck of cards, her gift is both a blessing and a curse. The true course of Sandu’s quest remains unclear, with danger waiting at every turn. She cannot see everything the future holds, but she does know it is a journey they will take together.
By joining him, she will start them down a dangerous, seductive path from which there is no coming back....

Review
"Fresh and unique with the introduction of the ancients from the monastery and each female having very different powers (no ones ever wielded tarot cards in the previous books)."—Under the Covers Book Blog
"Dark Tarot was an exciting, tense and fun story, with a fantastic couple in Adalasia and Sandu, as well as wonderful secondary characters."—The Reading Cafe
"Dark Tarot is a story that really took my breath away and it was simply beautiful in so many elements...An enthusiastic wild ride of laughs, of thrills and chills, an epic uplift of world-building that only this author crafts, and a stunning romance that conveys such unity, healing, and freedom."—Addicted to Romance
"This book kept me on the edge of my seat right up until the end. I never knew what would happen next, and I really enjoyed the role that Adalasia's tarot cards played in this story. There's a lot more magic in this book than in other books from this series, and I liked the slight twist that the magic brought to the series."—I Smell Sheep
"Suspenseful, full of danger, and action-packed. The subplots tie together well, the main characters are strong, and the ending is bittersweet. If you enjoy thrilling paranormal romantic suspense novels, then I recommend you check out this series."—Mystery & Suspense

The Ancients sacrificed so much to keep their kind and humanity safe from not only the undead of their kind but the demon growing powerful inside them. Time has taken its toll on Sandu and he is questioning the best way to hold on to his honor, ending his existence or returning to the Monastery, away from others, when the light, the other part of his soul calls out to him and he knows his salvation his lifemate is near. Through the messages in the Tarot cards, Adalasia knows he is meant to be her partner, to work by her side to stop a threatening danger. This is the story of two bloodlines, alludes to possibly more, who’ve sacrificed much more than we know to protect the world. He’s gone centuries without the memories others have to help hold onto honor and keep the demon at bay and still had the strength of character to do so. She’s part of a bloodline who’s trained generation after generation preparing for this fight.
.
Adalasia is a fantastic character and her story tugs the heart strings as much as Sandu’s. She is a pleasant surprise! The cards bring them together. She knows in order to be victorious they need to be partners, but can they be? Both have different ideas of what partner is, and fears of how to trust and succeed. Afraid to share because the other is withholding something and withholding something because the other won’t share was a hard wall to crumble. However, The cards tell them their success depends on discovering how to be partners and to recall the memories he has blocked…so off on a quest, 4 brethren along to protect and fight at their sides, to find the information they need from old friends from past books who may know.
.
Each stop brings the reader information of past threads with a lot of well explained Oh Wow! revelations and discoveries needed to help defeat the danger, the enemy, they face and learn where the journey needs to take them. And through the visits, and the adventures that happen during them, lessons are learned on how to be the lifemate, the partners, they need to be. Its not a 50/50 a childhood fairytale ideal would have her believe. It’s knowing each other’s strengths, when to step back and let the other lead, when to let the other shine and support lend help when needed when to ask for help and when to even sacrifice. Of course, this includes amazing action, sweet bonding and love, and a bit of butting heads and heart stopping moments. Of course communication is key!
.
The Fellow Ancients play their parts beautifully, too. Becoming family to Adalasia, there is banter, action and so much more that helps us get to know them more. Of course, we also get to learn what the cards have in store for them, as clearly as the future can be seen, that is. The end is an amazing happily ever after for the couple, with their quest ending in love we got to see grow and more so for Sandu, definitely a lump in throat happy! And so many possibilities for the series!

Thank you. and good luck.
The premise of this book is that Carpathian Ancient formerly of the monastery (you’ll be familiar if you’ve been following the series), Sandu, is contemplating whether to continue his fight or meet the dawn, when his life mate, talented tarot card reader, Adalasia, sees his despair and reaches out to him. Both in danger from dark, demonic forces that seek to control Adalasia and open “the gates” of the underworld, they embark on a dangerous adventure, accompanied by four other ancients to reinforce the gate Adalasia’s ancestors are responsible for and also to help Sandu regain his memories of his long lost family.
I enjoyed reading this overall. It was a lot more action-packed and less given to erotic filler than some of CF’s books in this series. We’ve asked for story and this has story aplenty. A LOT was going on and it was all very interesting and well-balanced with the romance between Sandu and Adalasia. I liked that even though Sandu (and his friends/fellow Ancients) was incredibly old-fashioned and thus, somewhat sexist by nature, he (and they) were willing to bend and learn and accept Adalasia’s expertise without expecting her to be the one doing all the compromising. I liked that Adalasia was strong and a leader without being TSTL-contrary just for the sake of being contrary. This felt like a healthy partnership. The other Ancients as secondary characters were fantastic and brought a lot of humour to the book- I laughed out loud several times thanks to their antics and their wit. The ensemble was a pleasure to read and I thought it was great to go back and visit with some of the past Carpathian hero and heroine pairings in their journey for answers. This book took me back to the early CF Dark series novels I read in hours because I couldn’t put them down. The only reason I’m docking a star is that I feel like this doesn’t really resolve this story arch and I kind of got mentally fatigued when I realized I’m probably going to have to wait 3-4 years for this story arch to be resolved and it’s just like sighhh 😳😩🙄, if you know what I mean.
Top reviews from other countries

Loved the characters and the story me is much improved from the previous few books
I loved the characters and look forward to their continuing stories from the hints given by Adalasia
Truly hope that this higher quality continues forward as I as well as many other readers feared the author may have lost her mojo as there have been so many recent books in this series which were not up to the usual level
My only slight gripe is my usual one that the book ends at 89% to make way for a huge appendix of Carpathian meanings when I'm sure a link to the information would suffice then anyone wishing to learn more could explore at their leisure
With the cost of the kindle edition being more than for the paperback I always feel a little cheated sorry
Enjoy 😉

I loved her earlier books but she has lost her wonderful storytelling. No real ending. I’m seriously think of not buying any of her books in the future. Getting too expensive to buy and I’m just not enjoying them anymore.
