Dark Terror (Dark Falls, CO Romantic Thriller Book 5) Kindle Edition
Gabe Calder lives to catch bad guys. He’s organized to the extreme, focused, and dedicated. His attraction to Cara Jenner is inconvenient. She’s the only witness to his murder case and strictly off-limits. Gabe knows he should step back from Cara as soon as he realizes he’s seeing her as more than a witness. That fact hits home the day he kisses the sexy librarian.

While this book definitely has a strong mystery/crime theme, there is also a ton of Sandra Owens' brand of humor, a lot of heart (Cara's relationship with her brother and sister-in-law made me cry!) and an incredibly beautiful bond between Gabe and Cara. If you're tired of the same-old-same-old books where the two main characters meet, immediately have copious amounts of sex with no actual relationship building but then declare their undying love for each other after, this book for you because these two develop an actual relationship. This is a happily ever after you can believe in.
Sandra Owens has such an amazing way of writing not only really strong, smart women, but also for writing men who respect them without it feeling like pandering. So often romance authors try to do this but instead it seems forced and fake but that's not how it is in a Sandra Owens story; her books all have that kind of respect organically, and this one is no different. Gabe Calder is my kind of book hero because he comes from a line of strong women and he values women who are strong and isn't even remotely intimidated by that. I love everything about that. And Cara, who winds up the victim of a stalker through no fault of her own, was awesome because she was never weak and she never had any “too stupid to live” moments - she made sure that she kept herself safe while still trying to figure out who was stalking her.
I would recommend this story to anyone who enjoys a good love story with suspense.
Nothing happens to quiet librarians. She may have the Wicked Witch for a boss, but Cara Jenner loved her job. But....leaving late one evening, she sees a dog running in circles in the street, with a leash dragging behind. She runs to rescue the dog and witnesses something that will change her life forever. Her quiet life as a librarian is done. She now has a stalker and a adorable ugly dog called Cricket.
Gabe Calder is a detective on the Dark Falls Police Deptartment and was called to the scene of the murder. He is known in the department as “cool, calm and collected” but for some reason his witness, Cara, is awakening some very unusual and protective feelings. Suddenly Cara spots a man at various places, even in her back yard and things heat up. Both in the case and between Cara and Gabe. The investigation is leading them to some important people, who are not happy with the situation.
The last few chapters were non stop action. Ms. Owen added the killers voice to the story and it was chilling. There are moments that make you laugh, and the romance is hot. Thank you to the publisher and the author for allowing me to to read and review this book.
I could not put the book down once I started reading it. The storyline is strong and kept me riveted. It was wonderfully suspenseful and full of my favourite aspect of Sandra’s writing which is her wonderful sense of humour.
Cara the heroine is good hearted and strong minded. Gabe is hotness personified with a cool demeanour. The chemistry between the two was perfect. Sandra also delivers cracker romantic scenes which are full of heart as well as heat.
I love so many of the extras in Sandra’s story as well. The entertaining Harry, the horrid employer and the creepy bad guys. You definitely have to read the story to find out how they fit in. A highly recommended read.

Cara may have been swept off her feet by Gabe, but she is feisty enough to not let him know that and keep him guessing. She may be strong but she is not stupid and knows exactly which battles to fight with Gabe and when to give in and let him protect her. There are plenty of steamy moments to go with the intrigue and drama but very little sex and little bad language which is not always the case in thrillers.
I love this series and cannot wait for the next two books which I have pre-ordered, although the one I am really looking forward to is Harry's book - whoever steals her heart will be in for an epic battle of wills and there are sure to be fireworks!
Insgesamt nicht ganz so stark, wie die K2 Reihe oder Aces & Eights, aber trotzdem lesenswert! Bin auf das nächste Buch der Reihe gespannt!
