You have to put in a special disk every time you turn the PS2 on to get the thing to work, and then sometimes off that, games won't boot.
Then there were instances where the character in whatever game I'd be playing at the time would stop mid run and freeze in place, and I'd have to reset (any kind of resetting means you have to swap disks back to the mega memory disk to re-boot your card). It never got to the point for me where it would keep happening in the same place, but it would keep happening in different places in the same games.
The worst part was getting to the end of long games that it did work with, only to find that one of the last cutscenes would lock up indefinitely for whatever reason, and would lock up in the same place on every attempt to get back to it. That happened to me on three or four different occasions and each time made me feel like I wasted a significant chunk of time.
And in case you're thinking - maybe it's not the memory card, maybe you had an issue with your PS2 or your game disks - No, I had a friend come over and play with their memory card, and everything worked perfectly using the same games I couldn't even get to turn on with this thing.
There isn't any way to transfer saves off a Mega Memory onto a standard memory card either so it's not something where you can fix the issue by changing cards.
I know they're not that relevant anymore as the PS2 is way past its prime, but if you happen to be in the market for an inexpensive PS2 memory card for whatever reason, please, do not buy this product.
