Daughters of Satan

1 h 30 min1972R
Tom Selleck stars as an antique dealer living in Manila who buys a Spanish painting dating back to 1592 because the painting depicts three witches being burned at the stake and one of the witches has an uncanny resemblance to James' wife. But the similarity turns out to be much more than a coincidence when Chris becomes possessed by the spirit of her evil doppelganger.

Slooooowwwww and really dumb

It's hard to believe that Selleck got his leading-role start with this tripe. I guess that the bar was much lower back in the 70s.

The music is overpowering and just ridiculous. It is maddening rather than scary.

The acting is atrocious.

The story is thin and often incoherent.

Many reviewers say that the ending was a surprise. It was not, and it's not worth waiting for.

I could go on and on. What garbage. If you're going to watch this, I suggest that you frequently skip ahead five minutes or so at a time. You won't miss anything substantial, and you'll save yourself most of the time you would otherwise waste on hoping that the "experience" will amount to anything.

It needed a better script

This movie was just okay, i wanted to like it more but I kept losing interest whenever it would just trail off.

There’s a ton of racism, I know it was the 70’s but I feel it needed to be mentioned with how often it is.

but a good one for those who like this genre

Not the movie I thought it was, but a good one for those who like this genre. Great seeing a young Tom. The ending is one I did not see coming at all. Very surprised by that one. The dvd was packaged great and the movie was better than expected! Arrived quick, too. Thank you!

Predictable, foolish and dull

I've tried to watch this thing three or four times but have never gotten past twenty or thirty minutes. The main characters behave too foolishly for words and the beginning is very predictable. A bad movie despite the presence of Tom Selleck.

Tom Selleck in his first movie role as a leading man stars in this horror movie that feels like a made for tv film, albeit one with nudity. A bit underwhelming yet there's still a very watchable quality to it

Not the ending you'd expect

I love this movie! Witches ,Tom Selleck, and gratuitous '70s nude scenes. What can't you love. I hadn't watched this film since I was a teenager so I had completely forgotten the ending. My jaw dropped. It's a must see.

This is one of those films I saw as a kid on late night TV, and it scared the bejeezus out of me. Then I saw it by chance in college, and it was so silly and funny...but still a little creepy. Yes, bad acting, bad filmmaking, bad plot, but why do I still like it? I agree with another reviewer about the MST-3K quality to this film...plus beefcakey Tom Selleck thrown in for good measure. It touches all the 70's taboos: a bit grindhouse, a bit sexploitation, a bit of S & M, AND a kick butt ending you'll never see coming. I'd say it is solid B-movie fare.
