Salvage System is a beacon of hope, and a number of other races continue looking toward it as an inspiration for how to live and govern themselves, and—in some cases—for assistance in defending themselves and throwing off oppressive regimes.
But the galaxy is a big place, and many of the races in it aren’t friendly. Would these forces like to take over Salvage System and acquire its resources? Absolutely.
Fifteen incredible authors take you further into the Salvage Title universe, giving you looks at some of the beacons of hope…and some of the malevolence that has yet to show its face. Can Harmon Tomeral and his friends hold out against it? Take a look inside and find out!

From the outside, The Lyon’s Den doesn’t look like much; there isn’t even a sign. But mercs of all species know that if you head to southwest Houston, near the Starport, there’s a particular run-down strip mall that looks like it’s been abandoned for years. The glass door second from the south end of the strip is plastered over on the inside with blue paper, and the faint golden outline of a rampant lion is the only clue.
The door is locked, of course, and beyond the door is nothing but a darkened hallway with a downward slope and a slight curve to it. Once you follow this curve far enough, you are greeted by two very large, very well-armed Lumar. “Welcome to the Lyon’s Den,” the larger of the two says without a translator, and without a trace of an alien accent. “You know the rules?”
Welcome back to the Four Horsemen universe, where only a willingness to fight and die for money separates Humans from the majority of the other races. Edited by bestselling authors and universe creators Mark Wandrey and Chris Kennedy, “Tales from the Lyon’s Den” includes eighteen all-new stories in the Four Horsemen universe by a variety of bestselling authors—and some you may not have heard of…yet. Want to know what it’s like to do search and rescue while a battle is going on or what to do with that new manufactory you just won in a card game? Better learn the rules to the Lyon’s Den…and then step inside!
Inside, you’ll find:

In the late 2020’s and early 30’s corporations managed to render the major governments of the world obsolete. The big corporations owned most of the territories as well as the majority of the world’s wealth. While many of the old traditions were still observed in various parts of the world, the true power was with the corporations.
In the late 30’s, what would be known as the Corporate Wars began as larger companies initiated hostile takeovers in a whole new fashion. Employees, armed with corporate weapons, warred for dominance. It was a bloody time, and many small corporations were destroyed, as were a lot of civilians in the wrong place at the wrong time…as well as those who’d been buying the wrong products.
On May 1st, 2067, it all ended in nuclear fire.
Sixteen outstanding authors have come to this Fallen World with stories that take place from the islands off the coast of Washington to the plains of central Europe; from the swamps of Florida to the streets of Philadelphia. These stories document the fall…and introduce you to people who might just drag civilization back from the ashes…

Sixteen-year-old Colt Maier is enrolled at a prestigious mercenary training school aboard a converted space freighter. At least, Colt thinks it’s prestigious, until a bounty hunter hired by the Merchant Guild arrests the school’s faculty, leaving Colt and his fellow cadets in deep debt to a loan company.
Facing the specter of indentured servitude should they fail to pay what they owe, Colt and his friends transform their former school into a legitimate mercenary company. Given one year to pay off their debt by the company’s smarmy loan officer, they take on as many contracts as possible, learning on the job how to secure their freedom.
Unfortunately for Colt and his fellow young mercs, the loan company has no intention of letting them succeed, and it’s far more profitable for them to sabotage Colt’s efforts while collecting a year’s worth of payments…and then enslave the students, anyway.
But there is more going on than a simple matter of indentured servitude, and as Colt tries to discover who has been foiling their efforts to earn their freedom, he uncovers a much bigger plot—one whose stakes might cost everyone in the school their lives just for knowing the secret.
Harmon Tomeral and his friends wanted nothing more than to go to space, and they have beaten the odds, time and again, to get there. They developed a mech and won the Top Fleet Marine Competition. They brought back a battlecruiser from an unknown system and made it their own. They made allies who helped them achieve great victories, and they ultimately founded new colonies in what has become known as the Salvage System.
Salvage System is a beacon of hope, and a number of other races have begun looking toward it as an inspiration for how to live and govern themselves, and—in some cases—for assistance in defending themselves and throwing off oppressive regimes.
But the galaxy is a big place, and many of the races in it aren’t friendly. Would these forces like to take over Salvage System and acquire its resources? Absolutely.

None of this concerns Symeon Brashniev, newly appointed steward to one of the most powerful heiresses on the planet. Happy to let the royals play their game of catch the crown, Symeon is more concerned with balancing his mistress’s books than worrying about affairs of state.
But when Symeon discovers evidence of sedition at the highest levels of government buried deep within her finances he realizes her great peril. Though a slave, he finds himself trapped in political intrigue, desperate to protect his mistress from the royals who would see her dead. Great for fans of Glynn Stewart, Dennis E. Taylor, and J.N. Chaney!

Tales from the Canyons of the Damned (canyonsofthedamned.com) is a dark science fiction, horror, & slipstream magazine we've been working on since 2015. What is Dark Science Fiction and Horror? Think of it as a literary Twilight Zone, Night Gallery, or Outer Limits, it's Netflix's Black Mirror and Amazon's Electric Dreams in the short story format. And it's a bargain. Each monthly issue has three-to-five sharp, suspenseful, satirical tales from today's top speculative fiction writers.
These are Dark Sci Fi Slipstream Tales like you've never read before.
Anna Rose Carver is a succubus. Not a demon or ghost, but a flesh and blood woman with the ability to borrow strengths and talents from friends, family, and lovers. A loner, taught from childhood to mistrust Society, the shadow government that polices her kind, she spends her life on the run, afraid that if she remains in one place long enough to really get to know anyone, her friendships will draw the attention of the elites who rule the supernatural world.
But when Anna’s family is kidnapped by a renegade faction within Society, her borrowed talents are snuffed like a flame. To save those she loves, Anna must let down her guard, and learn to trust.
Drawn is the first Rose Carver novel, a new dark urban fantasy series from David Alan Jones.

Rose Carver won, and that was just the beginning of her problems. By overthrowing a genocidal coup threatening all of succubus society, Rose created a power vacuum. Yes, she saved her family, but the turmoil she caused splintered an already fragile system. Now, succubus factions inside and outside the country are vying to influence, or outright dominate, the United States Government and the world.
Fortunately, Rose's allies survived the previous battle, people she can rely upon when things look grim.
Or can she?
Rose’s vampire ally, Piper Ross, has been making questionable moves of late. Without consulting Rose, Piper has declared war on the vampires who once prohibited her from leaving South Carolina. This personal vendetta increasingly prevents Piper from coming to Rose’s aid in times of need. With threats from all sides growing more dangerous, Rose fears the day when Piper will abandon their treaty altogether and leave Rose standing alone.
