About David Owain Hughes
David Owain Hughes is a word-slinger of horror and crime fiction, who grew up on trashy b-movies from the age of five which helped rapidly instil in him a vivid imagination. He’s had multiple short stories published in various online magazines and anthologies, along with articles, reviews and interviews. He’s written for This Is Horror, Blood Magazine, and Horror Geeks Magazine.
Hughes is the author of six horror novels, four short story collections and a plethora of novellas. Although he predominately writes within the bracket of horror and its multiple sub-genres, he’s recently branched out into crime fiction and is slowly carving out a superb series of crime/noir thrillers under the umbrella title of South Wales.

Since its conception in 2018, The Horror Collection series has been a firm favourite amongst global horror readers.
The Extreme Edition is the unruly weirdo in the family who has no filter. The one that all the good crass, uncomfortable and disturbing stories come from — you wouldn’t trust them alone with your wife or kid! Hell, you don’t exactly want to be caught up alone with them yourself! This one has no boundaries. It’s the social anarchist of the relatively straight-laced bunch — that’s even with the freaky bizarro cousin interwoven through the books.
If you always wish for that bit more gratuitous sex and violence, this book is for you.
We have assembled some of the very best in the business from whom you can learn so much about the craft of horror writing: Bram Stoker Award© winners, bestselling authors, a President of the Horror Writers' Association, and myriad contemporary horror authors of distinction.
The Horror Writer covers how to connect with your market and carve out a sustainable niche in the independent horror genre, how to tackle the writer's ever-lurking nemesis of productivity, writing good horror stories with powerful, effective scenes, realistic, flowing dialogue and relatable characters without resorting to clichéd jump scares and well-worn gimmicks. Also covered is the delicate subject of handling rejection with good grace, and how to use those inevitable "not quite the right fit for us at this time" letters as an opportunity to hone your craft.
Plus... perceptive interviews to provide an intimate peek into the psyche of the horror author and the challenges they work through to bring their nefarious ideas to the page.
And, as if that – and so much more – was not enough, we have for your delectation Ramsey Campbell's beautifully insightful analysis of the tales of HP Lovecraft.

Prepare to step through the looking-glass...
You are cordially invited to Crystal’s and Harry’s downfall. Their fate, along with a whole host of other characters you are soundly familiar with, will take place at my master’s grandiose home located in Porthcawl, south Wales.
Along with this invite, I strongly recommend bringing waterproofs and galoshes, as things will get messy, not to mention sticky, as the deadly duo are led into my master’s trap.
This is one trip they won’t survive.
After brutally murdering three critics for poor reviews of their show, Crystal and Harry decide it best to skip town and head for the coast. Once there, they know that everything will turn out just fine - it will be their chance to start afresh.
A new beginning.
But, before they make their way to the seaside, Crystal insists that they visit her sister at Castell Hirwaun, a renowned psychiatric facility for the dangerously insane - because, after all, it is because of Crystal that her sibling sits rotting in the place.
At the beginning of their adventure, Harry discovers a book in the van’s glove compartment - Whitewalls and Straitjackets - written by an unknown author who exhibits the most intimate knowledge of the deadly duo, along with the other nut jobs who lurk about the Rhonda Valleys in that most picturesque part of South Wales.
As lives and stories collide head-on, Crystal and Harry soon realize that escaping the Valleys won’t be quite as easy as they’s first assumed - especially so with another vicious serial killer hot on their heels….
F*ck the Rules features rule-bending stories from writing masters such as Guy N. Smith, Richard Chizmar, Adam Millard, Antonio Simon, Jr., Suzanne Fox, and more. Find out what happens when you throw your middle fingers up and defy those who hold you down.
They start as whispers, or static, beckoning you to listen and to be heard. They are the voices that creep into your psyche and coil around your own thoughts until one day you can't tell the difference between which ones are yours and which ones aren't. What happens when the voices become too much? What happens when the voices become too real? Come explore what happens when the voices are unleashed.
