The war against the vampires has been over for sixteen years. Humans control the American continents. Werewolves control the forests. Vampires control the rest of the world.
A new president has risen to power in Topia and the Day Soldiers must decide if he's a friend or an enemy. If he's a friend, great. Peace will continue. But if he's an enemy, fighting him won't be easy. He's not just commanding an army. He's the leader of a vampire world.
Everything has changed. The old rules no longer apply. The Day Soldiers know they have two choices: They can die... or they can evolve.

Well like I said until now because in Day Soldiers IV - Evolution Brandon Hale kills off one of my favorite werewolves I won't name him because; I don't want to spoil the story for others. I felt this particular werewolf was a main story character and I really loved this werewolf a whole lot. Reading about this werewolf is what made this series of books really work for me. Everyone loves Lily and I guess Lily is the centerpeice of the series for everyone else but for me the werewolves are what make this a truly awesome book. Author Brandon Hale kills off one of my most absolute favorite werewolves in this book installment and I honestly don't know if I can forgive this.
No I am not like the psycho killer in Misery so Mr Brandon Hale has nothing to worry about or fear from this autistic werewolf, I never harm humans unless attacked and I am left no way to escape. However the werewolf he killed was what made the books enjoyable for me so I don't think I will be buying his next installment in the series. Brandon Hale does not seem to understand that some of us read this type of book for the story told about werewolves. I'll put up with vampires to read an engaging story that includes awesome werewolves and back story of this werewolf was built up so well he felt like a living breathing person even a brother in my immagination. So when Brandon Hale killed this much loved werewolf near the end of this book installment I was deeply hurt damn near morally wounded even.
I love a good book but killing this awesome werewolf for me was a step too far. I read for enjoyment and the killing of one of my most favorite werewolf characters for me was so depressing it turns me off the series. I guess Brandon Hale does not yet understand that people get attached to certain characters and he seems to kill central werewolf characters with reckless abandon. I won't likely be reading the next installment of this series because; I still too angry and shaken from the death of my most favorite werewolf in the story.
This book would have gotten a five star rating from me had my most favorite werewolf not gotten killed in this installment. Yes at least my favorite werewolf died an honorable death and YES that MATTERS A LOT TO ME. But now that my most favorite werewolf in this story is dead I really don't care what happens to Lily and the others. Without my favorite werewolf to provide the werewolf action that brings me immense joy the lives of all the other characters don't mean a thing to me. For me buying any more of these books is just a depressing waste of my money now.
Killing my favorite werewolf just but a plot hole in the story that killed the joy in reading these Day Soldier books for me as sure as the silver bullet that went through the heart of my favorite werewolf in the book. When Brandon Hale killed my favorite werewolf was killed with a silver bullet my interest in this Day Soldier Series died with that awesome and noble werewolf. Thanks for nothing sir!
I am assuming that you have read books 1-3. if you have not stop reading my review and get to one clicking!!
I think we all know from previous books what the plots about so I am going to save myself some typing and just tell you that this book carries on where we left off in book 3. It brings new dilemmas I didn't see coming and keeps you hooked just like the past books. It also has a few developments that were bound to happen and I waited patiently for 3 books to happen. One of the things I love about these books is that it's real. If Vampires were to take over the world I could expect a lot of what happens in these books to really happen. The lead characters don't need to fall into bed every five seconds when the world is literally in their hands to save. While I LOVE a good romance I also like that this isn't one.
With that said-Get to reading!!
I have decided to start the next book and you should too!!
