CB’s stories are absolutely wonderful.
This story proves to me that CB is a person who understands people of all types. The girls who grow up in the book all have awful problems that are dealt with sensibly, with love, and acceptance. They’ve done a lot of maturing.
I recommend this author and her excellent stories to anyone who needs to read a well written book.

I love Carolyn Brown's books and The Daydream Cabin did not disappoint. In fact, I think it may be Carolyn Brown's best work to date. Piney Wood Academy is a place for wayward girls. It can be the last place they go before reform school or jail. Jayden Bennett is roped into being a counselor there after her sister, Skyler, takes off for Europe and tells the school her sister, Jayden, will take over for her. After thinking about it and realizing she had no plans for the summer she accepts the job.

It is there that she meets so many loving people. Elijah Thomas is the drill instructor and Henry and Mary own the Academy. There are three cabins, each will hold three girls and their counselor. The day the girls arrive has Jayden wondering if she bit off more than she can chew. Unruly is an understatement to describe the girls. Back home she is a guidance counselor so she has the tools to help the girls but is not sure they will listen or let her help them.

Elijah was enthralled with Jayden the moment he saw her. He was a pilot the Air Force and saw three of his friends die. He wasn't able to save them and blamed himself for their deaths. His heart is now hardened. It appears to him that anyone he becomes close to ends up dying on him. To prevent any further hurt he will keep to himself. It isn't as easy as he thought it would be with Jayden around.

The nine girls that come for the eight week semester leave alot to be desired. They all voice that jail would be better than Piney Wood. The transformation over the course of eight weeks is unbelievable. I want to say more but I don't want to give anything away. I cannot say enough good things about this book. It will surely touch your heart. I loved every minute of this book and did not want it to end.

She I open a new book of Carolyn Brown's and read the first few pages I can tell how great a story I am going to find.
When Jayden got home from her day of school for the year she wasn't expecting to get a call from the Line Wood Academy in Alpine, Texas first thing. Her sister Skyler had told them that Jayden would happy to be a counselor for the eight week session. It is a boot camp for wayward teen girls who have gotten in trouble with the law one too many times.
Jayden agrees to take her sisters place again and finds out when she gets there it isn't a club med. Spoiled teenage girls with attitude is not her idea of a fun summer.
This tale has a lot of twists and turns that makes you feel that these girls have no parents who care about them. You find out what they have to go through to stay in this camp or end in Julie or worse. It is definitely realistically told and makes you happy you never got caught and ended up in a place like this. I tried to put it down and go to bed twice but ended reading it to the end at 3am. This is a book worth reading.

When nine troubled girls arrive at Piney Woods Academy for an 8 week session after a judge says it is either here or juvie, you get some really ticked off teenage girls to try to help. That is what Jayden has let herself in for instead of her usual Summer vacation from her counselor job at her high school in Dallas. What she doesn't expect is to make good friends with the owners and the other two counselors....and with the girls in her care. Throw in her older sister who is a narcissist and the man who will take over for the owners when they retire soon, and you have a dynamite story to read. I laughed, cried, and held my breath more than once reading this one. Each book of Carolyn Brown just gets better and better. This one is top notch, and I hated for it to end.

Just not a great book in any way. I guess its supposed ot be Christian literature but then the characters dont really live Christian lives. All the characters are shallow. Plot predictable and the worst part....the complete unreality of the situation with the troubled teens. Those girls would not have bonded or completely changed after 8 weeks. Their issues are extrememly deep and 8 weeks is nothing. So the author, I guess has never spent time with teenagers with severe issues. JUst a waste of money.

I wish there was a Piney Woods camp for girls just like in this book! There are so many teens needing this kind of tough love! Ashlyn, Carmella and Tiffany were assigned to Daydream cabin at Piney Woods Camp for girls! An eight week last stop before juvie or jail, and they all arrived with a chip on their shoulders as big as Texas! Two other cabins held three girls each, all rich, all in trouble, and all with an attitude! For Jayden, the counselor at Daydream Cabin, her first summer there, she was not only challenged but changed not only her life, but the lives of eight young woman on the road to pain and heartache on day one, to a lasting love, and affection at the end of the eight week session! Great read!
