The heroine's first name comes that friends daughter. I appreciate their support and the use of their names.The hero's name comes from one of NY Times Bestselling Author Jennifer Probst's son. His last name is the name of a small grocery store I worked at in HS. And finally, the bad guy's last name is Jennifer's husband's last name...Thank you for everything!This story is a bit of a departure form the rest of the series, except the very first book, which focuses more on the romance and not the "suspense/mystery" going on around the hero and heroine. Josh and Delaney have more in common than they could ever imagine in "Deadly Seduction" by Jen Talty, the sixth book in the NY State Trooper Series. Josh Burdette is a state trooper working in Lake George. His father was a police officer who died in the line of duty before he was born. His late mother would spend hours telling Josh stories about his father so he could understand what a wonderful person he was. Josh transferred to his current assignment because his life had been threatened while working in NYC.
Delaney Mervis lives in NYC and is a budding writer who works at a publishing house. She receives a visit from "Gray Eyes"( as she calls him), who shows her a video of her brother, Liam, tied up and beaten. She will do anything to save him. Liam's captors send her to Lake George to seduce Josh in order to ruin his reputation. Josh worked undercover for a year within the same organization that now has Delaney's brother, whose leader is seeking revenge on him.
Josh notices Delaney staring at him while she was having dinner and wonders if she has been sent to kill him, but he couldn't resist her charm . She fascinated him and he had to find out the truth. Can Josh and Delaney work together to save her brother, or will they realize that they are the ones who are truly in danger?
I love a story that combines romance and mystery and Jen delivers another winner in "Deadly Seduction." I am excited to read the next book in the series, "When a Stranger Calls."

I received this free e-book from Amazon and I am voluntarily writing a review. Delaney has to seduce a State Trooper, Josh, and get it on video to keep her brother from being killed. She has 3 days to do it or they will kill her too. I would have given this a higher rating but this needs some serious editing.

Deadly Seduction was a story that took your emotions on a tailspin with all of the situations involved. We're introduced to Delaney Mervis, an aspiring writer who works in New York, and a woman who would seem has not one bad bone in her body. She lost her parents a little while back and only has an estranged brother left as family. She's very loyal to her family even if she hasn't really had much of a relationship with her brother. Delaney is contacted by a mysterious man who calls himself "Gray Eyes", and sends her a video of her brother beaten and bruised begging for her to do whatever it is this man tells her to do in order for him to stay alive and be released. Delaney is torn and is willing to do something she knows is wrong to save her brother. "Gray Eyes" tells her she needs to help bring down what he claims is a dirty cop by humiliating him. But as she does this, she has to be willing to seduce him into bed. If she doesn't do it, her brother, Liam, will be killed.

Josh Burdette is a New York State Trooper who was transferred from his special crimes unit back in the Bronx after one of his undercover operations led to threats after he brought down mobster Alexander Craypo. Josh fell for the wrong woman during his operation and almost ended up getting killed. The occurrences that happened afterwards were the result of Craypo trying to kill off Josh, but Craypo blames Josh for the damage done and is dead gone on killing him. Josh transfers to Lake George, NY but always keeps his guard up, always prepared for anything Craypo may send his way.

Josh notices Delaney pretty much the first time she tries to stealthily follow him. They end up meeting at a restaurant when they finally make eye contact, and Josh finally approaches her. Although cautious, Josh can't help but to be drawn to Delaney and notice a sadness and fear in her eyes. He does wonder if she's been sent by Craypo to set him up again for a bad downfall. After Delaney meets Josh, she starts to have second thoughts on whether or not she can got through with what she's been set up to do. But she has to keep her brother in mind. She just finds herself falling for Josh and his charm.

This story makes you feel anger and frustration towards Delaney, but at the same time, you have to think that if it was a family member of your own, you'd most likely do anything you could to get them back alive. Josh is genuine and although he knows he should keep his guard up with Delaney, he also sees something in her that he can't ignore. They have chemistry together. Even after he finds out what she's been set out to do, aside from him trying to distance himself, he puts himself in her shoes and understand why she did it, even if it did end up hurting him.

It all came down to this. What would you do if you learned a horrible secret that turned your life upside down? One that changes everything you thought you knew in the past few years of your life. Your loyalty is tested, your thought processes are all skewed. And the one person you know you can trust is a complete stranger you've only known for a short time. Picture yourself in the this person's shoes and try to come to your own conclusion on whether or not you'd come out alright.

Deadly Seduction was a good story to add to the collection of the New York State Trooper Series. Some may find it a little scattered with so much going on, and with a little bit more development with the characters, it would've been a bit more smooth, but the story was still a good one with some twists that make you wish you could reach into the book and give a good beating to certain characters.

A great book about a Trooper, Josh, and the woman who is about to set him up, Delaney. She has no choice, either seduce him and video him in a compromising position or her brother is dead. Josh is still wary about any woman since the last one tried to kill him, but there is something about Delaney but that doesn't mean he is letting his guard down. When a situation goes south for her, he is there to pick up the pieces, unfortunately she doesn't know who to trust anymore and when she finds out more about her family she feels more alone than ever before. Josh is there for her and not only does he start falling for her he will do anything to protect her. When they are finally forced to confront the people out for them it will be up to Delaney to save them both but when it's all over can they move forward? Read and find out.
A great read with lies, suspense, betrayal, learning to trust and lust/love that you can't help but finish reading when you start. I really enjoyed Josh who made me swoon since he wasn't a womanizer and Delaney who when she needed to be tough she was.
