A Pure Comedy "Gem"!

Oh my gosh! How in the world have I not heard anything at all about this movie? Because I like Greg Kinnear I thought if it gave me a few laughs I would call it a success, but, WOW!, this movie delivered in a major, major way! Definitely one of the funniest movies I have seen in quite a while. Between the horrendous reviews on a certain public-edited online encyclopedia and the stellar reviews here, trust the reviews here on Amazon. The writing is truly first-rate and the acting is "comedy gold", and that is not just me talking about Greg Kinnear's leading role, I'm talking about all the supporting actors from Tim Conway on down. Little stuff like how the Post Office supervisor is always "gone" the nano-second a character looks away or how one of the mail-room flunkies just cannot seem to handle packages or mail correctly. Lots of very funny stuff in the physical comedy department to go along with the script. By all means, "YES!", rent the movie. My wife and I thought it was so good I bought a copy as soon as we finished watching it. Have fun!

Enjoyable

The kind of Hollywood movies that are turned out today are mostly trash and always about dysfunctional people usually trying to kill themselves; such depressing junk movies I turn them off after about 5 to 10 minutes of viewing. This film was fun and uplifting medicine for the human spirit. Refreshing, after the usual Hollywood trash they try passing for movies. Made me feel better about myself and the world in general, that's worth the time and effort to watch this film, and have a few laughs.

Fun & Fanciful

Not based on a true story (clarified for the one-star reviewers); not even a plausible story (again, for the one-star reviewers); just a fun, silly, heart-warming tale (for everyone else). You'll love this cast of slightly goofy characters assigned to the DLO (Dead Letter Office) in the Post Office. Enter "Tom" the con-artist who has to remain gainfully employed for one year or go to jail. After reading a letter written to God, he inadvertently starts a project to respond to letters written to God, and ends up in court for illegally tampering with the mails. The rest is part of this fanciful tale. You'll have fun watching it and enjoy the happily ever after ending. I promise.

Pretty Stupid Movie
Verified purchase
If you are looking for comedy based upon an unrealistic situation, this is for you! I was mildly entertained. Even though some of the things they did were unlike characters in any other movie, I found them not funny but pathetic because the writer was trying to be funny and not succeeding. I had to stop after a while because I found some of it s stupid, so unreal that it was embarrassing me. I finished it a few days later. The acting by the main character was good, and that was its only saving grace.

Great Movie

This is a heartwarming, very underrated movie. Great cast! Classic Tim Conway. Greg Kinnear has done surprisingly well in faith-related movies. If you haven’t seen it yet, it is well-worth your time. And if you have seen it and it’s been a while, it’s worth it anyway.

But I'm so glad I found it today on Amazon. Just a nice, no frills, happy ending 1990s Garry Marshall film peppered with such talents as Tim Conway, Greg Kinnear, Laurie Meltcalf and Garry Marshall himself. The entire ensemble did a magnificent job. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT if you're looking for a little bit of happiness and some unexpected smiles today.
