The hypochondria is too much
Each DI is supposed to be quirky but the current one with his hypochondria is just painful to watch. I’m hoping the writers cure him of everything soon.

My Favorite Show Has Taken a Bad Turn at Season 10
This was such a great show (my favorite) until Neville turned up as the new DI. He's a hypochondriac with a multitude of phobias. It is WAY overdone to the point of being very annoying and not funny at all! I can hardly stand itl The commissioner can't stand it either and wants Neville gone. Neville doesn't like his house on the beach or even the beautiful tropical beach itself, and has made no effort to become friends with the live-in lizard, Harry. He is such a spineless whiner and complainer that you don't see a policeman, you only see a patient whose phobias are more important than solving crimes. We've lost Dwayne and Ruby with their smiling faces and charming, happy-go-lucky attitudes. The negativity has fractured the unity of the cast and given the show a dull and lifeless quality. The show has lost it's sense of family, of fun, and of unity. The leadership of the local police force lacks in authority or competency. The writers need to steer this show back on track before it crashes on the rocks and dies. Come on, folks, please fix this! Bring it back to life!

Season 10 just as good as all the rest.
With only 2 episodes available to watch I wonder how people can pan this entire season. There have been changes....again. Get over it! I have seen all of series 10. At first I wasn't a great fan of Neville as the new DI. But as the season goes on he becomes more likable and begins to embrace St. Marie like DI Poole never did. I don't want to leak any details, I just want you to be less quick to judge and give season 10 a chance. I really enjoyed it as much as the other seasons. BTW, who is "Dwight" who was so greatly missed by one reviewer??

Old and New
If you love the prior 9, there's plenty here to continue to love. Gorgeous camera shots of a beautiful place. Continuation of many of the beloved characters. If you want some changes, there's that, too. And a few surprising returns of people you may have thought were gone for good. The core of the show hasn't (and shouldn't) change. There's a murder that seems impossible and nobody could have done it. That's the same. I'm the first to admit that the 4 star here is mostly about "the new DI." I'm trying, really trying. But he just seems silly and crazy to me, and not in a good way. My least favorite of them all. The show overall, however, is something that I've treasured from day one and still do. Like many who made this a surprise success, I am a longtime fan and love the unusual approach (and setting) to the stock British murder mystery genre. I look forward to the other reviews. I'm interested to know what people think.

The Island is Still the best Character
Despite the fact that Neville Parker is not very appealing and they have lost some of the best characters, watching the show is like a small vacation due to the island views and culture.

As the season has progressed, the writers have toned down DI Parker's hypochondria and he is becoming more palatable.

Season 10 has brought back a lot of the magic of the earlier seasons

I love the direction that Season 10 took with DI Neville Parker starting to find his way a bit more with the help of DS Florence Cassell. A new character Marlon Pryce adds a wonderful flair with his juvie criminal background... helping to fill a gap that's been missing since the character Dwayne Meyers (with his knowledge of all things illegal) left the show. I can't wait for season 11!
Sara Martins also makes a guest appearance in ~1+ episode and Ben Miller also makes a cameo appearance! It's a lot of fun, done extremely well - don't miss it!

Well Played!

A vast improvement over season 9. Ralf Little is vastly improved over Season 9--fewer afflictions and more detecting. The return of the Josephine Jobert is a big plus. The two part episode (5 and 6) was particularly well done.

As always the star of the show--the island shines. It appears that the producers purchased a drone and we are rewarded with some nice aerial shots. No masks and no pandemic on the Isle of St. Marie--a welcome respite from the cares of our times.

Caribbean crime scene

Saint Marie is a tropical paradise. If only people would stop being murdered. Luckily, Neville Parker is on the case with his team. He may be a touch unorthodox and a little bit annoying, but Neville is the inspector to find the truth. The team also has a familiar face coming back in the form of Florance Cassell and a new police officer as well. Neville even tries the impossible for him. Adjust to island life. All good fun
