Dennis K. Crosby grew up in Oak Park, IL and completed his undergraduate work at the University of Illinois at Chicago. With a degree in Criminal Justice he spent six years working as a Private Investigator and during that time developed an affinity for writing poetry. While working on a Master's Degree in Forensic Psychology, Dennis transitioned into social service. Dennis has spent the last twelve years working with adult men and women experiencing challenges with mental health and addiction.

With a lifelong passion for writing, Dennis wrote dozens of short stories, tapping into his creative side, but did not pursue the finer points of the craft until later in life. After leaving Chicago and transitioning to San Diego, California, Dennis had the opportunity to get more involved in the writing community where he strengthened his skills. After attending several workshops and writer's conferences, Dennis slowly learned to find his voice and direct it into long form writing.

To further augment his writing skills, Dennis completed an MFA program at National University.

A self-proclaimed geek and lover of pop culture, Dennis still lives and writes in San Diego, CA.

I did enjoy this book, just wish they didn't rely on the raped/abused to perfection trope so heavily. Honestly you usually only see this trope with "strong" female leads and I am honestly quite tired of it.

I am and have always been a romanticist, a believer in happily ever after since about the age of 4. As I grew and developed a love for reading, my choice of books varied from mysteries, to American literature, to African American literaure and finally romantic fiction. When Death's Legacy was released I knew I would read it and I knew I would enjoy it! For me the most important part of reading and enjoying a book, is being able to place yourself inside the story and attaching yourself to a character. I can then feel the story and understand the writer's intent and feel what the writer is saying through his writing. How could you not love Kassidy, sympathize with her, get angry at her, fight for her existence and cheer for her success. Once I began to read Death's Legacy, it was a non-stop read , stopping only to sleep . I hated to reach the end. But the best part of the end was in knowing, it's not the end the story continues! I will be waiting and I have learned that there can be happy endings with twists and turns and I can like both!

I loved Death's Legacy. It's is a compelling, original, well-written fantasy novel that's an excellent mix of goth/superhero/horror... think Neil Gaiman and Joss Whedon, and light dusting of Stephen King tossed in for good measure. Such good world-building: just enough explanation for WTH is happening without going overboard. While I was reading this book, I was also (purely coincidentally) watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and it couldn't have been more perfect timing. Like Buffy, Kassidy is a strong but complicated female lead, grappling with what it means to possess her powers and the responsibility (and oftentimes alienation) that comes along with it. But Kassidy holds her own as a totally unique badass. From the very beginning, I had a very good sense of who Kassidy is and of her character arc. I was emotionally invested in Kassidy's journey throughout, and can say the same about the other main characters, too (even the repulsive ones, and that's saying a lot!). This story is a perfect set-up for sequels. Highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys this genre!

I love supporting new authors and when a friend told me a friend of his wrote a book, I was excited to read it. I am so glad I did. Death’s Legacy by Dennis K. Crosby is a debut novel and I could not stop reading it. Kassidy Simmons just wants to hide. She is tired of feeling too much, of running, of hiding. Years ago she battled the Angel of Death and won, but now he is back and after everything and everyone that matters to her. Now she is learning her life was full of secrets and lies. Who can she trust? As time is running out, she needs to be ready to face her enemy and find the weapon that will help her. I loved the characters and story so much and hope more is coming.

I really enjoyed this book. I bought it both as a Kindle version and an audio book, as I didn't want to take a break from reading when tasks such as laundry, dishes and driving got in the way! I am always amazed by an author's ability to come up with unique storylines, characters, and plot twists, and I was especially impressed by Crosby. His characters are phenomenal and the way he was able to weave so many different components into one, hard to put down, story, really speaks to his talent as a writer. I have told friends and family about this book and I can't wait to read what he comes up with next!

I found this book entertaining on many levels . The first impression was how well the author conveys the emotions of his characters. He not only paints a picture of the surroundings but truly let's the reader into each characters emotions.Secondly the I found the story line fascinating as he was able to seamlessly move from the present to the past in such a way that never seemed forced.Lastly I found Kassidy a great character and Crosby writes her in such a way that you truly believe that she and the world he made exists. I realize this book just came out but I already want more.

This is a fantastic start to a new urban fantasy series. Our main character, Kassidy is an ex-Reaper, and an empath. She keeps her empathic abilities dulled with a combination of bourbon and painkillers, however, her abilities are beginning to expand beyond her control, ruining her life and relationships. This strange expansion of her powers is linked to her nemesis, Azra-El. He is regenerating, and his power growing also. Kassidy must find a way to stop him.

Kassidy is such a wonderful and relatable character. She tries to hard not to feel, because she knows when she does, she feels too much. Her struggle to create some sort of balance in her own life, is something I think most people can relate to, whether they're fighting off wraiths and angels of death or not.

The plot is well paced, with plenty of twists and turns, and shocking revelations that leave you gasping at the pages. Crosby adds elements of Greek myths and gods into his dark urban fantasy world, which gives the novel a unique twist. There's no vampires and werewolves in this version of Chicago, it's death gods and immortals! I'm looking forward to jumping onto book 2.
