The tome is chock full of incredible (mostly color) photos that show our beloved artists in various lights. We did not have the web back then, all we saw were album covers, mag photos and concerts. This book adds a lot of flavor to the artists I adored, and still do. Weiss has to be the luckiest fan that ever walked the earth for him to be in a position to take these photos. And he got paid to do it!!!!
I am very grateful for this book, and immediately bought another to send to my brother. Very impressive in scale and story lines also. Brings back tons of fond memories and reminiscing on that time and scene. I truly feel sorry for anyone who missed the 80s! Music and concerts have never been the same since then.
Book is solidly built. A quality product. It has some heft to it. Good spine. Pages are securely anchored to the spine. It doesn't feel like some cash grab. I appreciate that.
But the dust jacket is flimsy when I compare it to other coffee table books of this sort that I have bought. And it arrived with the dust jacket wrinkled and the book barely protected (an issue with packaging, not the publisher) in the box. The saving grace is that the book, without the dust jacket, looks great too.
I just wish, for $50, that the jacket felt more sturdy/was of better stock (I have purchased some hack-job Wymer books that had better jackets).
Still, I recommend it.
No sir, this book is crammed full of fantastic large full color photos, plus some great information & commentary to go with it. I can't say enough how pleased I am with this purchase. Weiss was very respected, and still is among the rock world and this book is a fine retrospective of his career.... \m/
This book provides insight into musicians I’ve admired growing up but was not old enough to experience in life. Mark Weiss’ photos have always been iconic in heavy metal and rock n roll and this collection of pieces from the biggest artists in the 80s is worth the purchase.
