Live lighter. Live freer. Live a bigger life with less.
In Declutter Like a Mother, Allie Casazza comes alongside you to explore:
- Why decluttering calms anxiety in your heart and lessens tension in your relationships.
- How to ensure your house is working for you, not against you.
- Why kids thrive when they’re not overwhelmed with options.
- How to make time, when you feel you don’t have time, to declutter.
Allie Casazza was tired of feeling it was her against the laundry in her home. She wondered if somewhere beneath her frantic days and the mountains of toys in the playroom she would ever find joy and peace in motherhood. Then she discovered the abundance . . . of less.
As she purged her home of excess stuff, Allie discovered a lifestyle that strengthened her marriage, saved her motherhood, and helped her develop her gifts in a way that no amount of new kitchen appliances or new organizing system ever could.
Research studies show a direct link between stress levels and the amount of physical possessions people have in their homes, and Allie has seen that truth play out in her own life and in the lives of hundreds of thousands of other moms she has mentored through her business and online courses. She proclaims:
You don’t need a home that’s perfect. You need a home that’s lighter. Discover less stress, more space. Less chaos, more peace. Less of what doesn’t matter, so you have room for what matters most of all.

THEN she started something called Declutter Like a Mother. Just from the name alone, I knew I had to try it out. And it was life changing! Never have I felt more empowered or motivated to take my life back! I have done the challenge every year since! When Allie announced she was going to write a book titled Declutter Like a Mother, even though I had completed the challenge online a few times, I knew that I just had to get my hands on this book! Reading the words on the pages was so life giving. Allie breaks down the areas in your home that tend to cause mom's the most stress – from kids clothe and artwork to dishes and bathroom cabinets – and gives you some guidelines on how to make those areas work for you and GET RID OF WHAT ISN’T SERVING A PURPOSE! She explains how our stuff and cleaning it up is taking up our time, time that we could be spending with our kids or families. As moms, we aren't required to live a life that is bogged down with constant chaos and cleaning, even if the world tends to make that seem like the norm and like its ok. Following Allie's simple steps as outlined in Declutter Like a Mother, she guides you through these top areas, while also dealing with some of the emotional and mental obstacles that come up! She even touches on why kids cling to certain things. Her method makes so much sense. A mother is one of the strongest forces ever, and when you get a mother motivated, you better watch out. Allie motivates and encourages while also giving some tough love where needed. Her book will absolutely get you headed in the right direction to take back your life and your motherhood and not be owned by your stuff!
As a member of the launch team, I received and advanced copy of the book in exchange for my unbiased opinion.
I highly recommend this book. I’ve been following Allie online for several years and am excited to have her wisdom and Allie-isms in hardback format! She has a no nonsense, tell it like it is style. She desires to encourage and challenge you to take back this beautiful thing called Motherhood through a life of less on purpose.
Allie’s minimalism message is not about strict rules and counting the number of items in your home. It’s about imagining what your best life looks like within the four walls of your home. What do you want your house to do for you and your family? What do you want it to feel like? What kind of mom do you want to be?
No one wants to be an overwhelmed mom, but we’ve all been there. I am there, but Allie offers a way out. She’s been there and back! Now she is showing mom’s everywhere how to turn around their homes and motherhood.
As Allie would say, “Let’s unsubscribe to Hot Mess Mom Culture.” There is another way and believe it or not but it all starts with the clutter under your bathroom sink! ;)
You’ll never regret spending more time with your kids. I want more time pouring into my people and less time managing our stuff. I think you do too. Buy the book. Do the work…little by little. Change the trajectory of your family. I am. THANK YOU, ALLIE!
I know that same feeling of drowning in stuff, things to do, being broke, and being so overwhelmed with motherhood that I couldn't even enjoy my 2 babies growing.
Then fast forward to 2017 when we experienced the stillbirth of our 3rd daughter. With this came loads and loads of well-meaning gifts and mementos from friends, family, and strangers. Not only was I drowning in grief, but I found myself responsible for all this stuff that I knew wouldn't bring my daughter back, but the guilt of getting rid of any of it was so damn heavy. I didn't want my daughters life, and what I had left of it, to be a burden- but that's how it was feeling trying to manage all the things. After some time, when I was ready (as ready as I'd ever be), I took the steps that I had learned from Allie to start releasing things as the courage came. With this came an appreciation and healing that I never thought I would have. I could enjoy the items that really meant something to me and my family, and bask in the memories of our daughters short life.
Though I have been following Allie's journey since around 2017, this book still means the world to me as a mom. Even though I know the processes and the passion behind her message- to be able to have something to remind me that yes, in fact, I can do this mom thing with intention. I highly recommend Declutter Like a Mother to any mom that feels lost in the mess of it all. I highly recommend the audio version as well, it has been great to listen to in the car, as I clean, and let my kids listen to it with me as well. You can be empowered, there is a better way, #momlife doesn't have to suck, and you are not alone in this.

I was excited to hear about Casazza’s first book as although I have good routines and rhythms for certain things (e.g. laundry) and have decluttered and maintained specific areas (e.g. bathroom, clothing) there are still areas that needed work (particularly TOYS!)
‘Declutter like a mother,’ the book came at just the right time. Instead of making lists of areas I ought to simplify, Allie reminds us to just take action. Even just taking one action helped me to immediately feel lighter and encouraged me to continue with the focus on intent. I particularly like the ‘rule of space,’ as an idea of how much to keep and this works well with helping children declutter their things.
If you have been listening to Allie for some time, there may not be much new here. However, it is great for being able to go back to those specific sections whenever you like in the book. For those new to Allie Casazza - if you are feeling overwhelmed - this is a great place to start. Recommended.
My favourite quote, “Don’t keep something just because it feels wasteful to let it go. What is wasteful is keeping something you’re not even using when someone else could use it..”
Not with "Declutter Like A Mother"!
Allie supports you as you get into the "why?", followed up with the tools to lead you to intention, so that as you move forward you are making decisions with intention. It doesn't stop there, this books dives into how to help your kids through the process in a positive, supportive manner setting them up with life skills!
This book is truly about honoring yourself, the home you want and is not about living by another's adgenda of what your home should look like.
Allie's voice is so well inscribed in words and it truly validated me to allow myself to rid myself of items I have been holding onto for years - out of fear, guilt. Nor, does it skip over the hard spaces, instead you start small, follow the process and leads you to the hard spaces in our home.
I've decluttered multiple times before but not with the level of insight and intention I have gained from "Declutter Like A Mother". I am excited to keep diving into areas of my home and I feel confident that it will not be this level again because I now have a deeper understand, and intention of how I want my home to look for myself, my family and friends.
I CANNOT wait to share this book with the women I know that are overwhelmed with their homes.
Her focus on mindset has helped me move past a place of chaos & overwhelm. I no longer go through life as a martyr. Through Allie I have learned how to create a home that supports me & reflects what’s important in my life.
I’m taking action & creating a life that works for me, instead of against me. I never would have thought decluttering would be life altering (that just seems like hokey bs) but it truly has affected every area of my life. I now have the time, energy & mindset for things that actually matter & it all started when I was introduced to Allie Casazza. -I bought this book for my wife & she wrote this review :)
