Recommended for lovers of strange and unusual mer stories and those looking for new series to binge read based on fab prequels.
Courtney Cannon’s In Waters Dark & Deep - Evander&Karis’ prequel seems like a lead-on to an enemies to lovers Little Mermaid - that I can’t wait to read now!!
Margo Collins Of Love & Leviathans - super creepy and lovely urban futuristic Leviathan tale - still have the chills from that ending, yikes!
JC Brown & Lena Lane The Selkie’s keeper - I noted it down as a haunting selkie-vamp story, but can’t remember the deets 1 month later, tbh.
Kat Parrish Island of Magic - a take on The Tempest with a whimsical prequel and an alternate ending to the Bard’s original version, recommend if you love Shakespear with a twist.
L.B.Carter & Leann Mason Death Song - a siren, a hellhound and an Egyptian god teaming up to reap souls - yes, please! Loved Jessica & can’t wait for her to re-meet Stone & will look up Harbingers of Death, bring them on!!! Will be following those authors for sure.
L.J.Wynn The Briny Deep - Lake Michigan and the Great Lakes turning salty cpurtesy of Daevrey Junnes aka Davey Jones. This one was a quirky reverse Ariel story or rather the story of the next generation - a prequel that piqued my interest to read the main book.
Sabetha Danes Siren’s Revenge - edge of the seat full start-to-finish-no-sequel story without cliffhangers, thank uou!
K.Matt one strange fishing trip - hilarious reverse Nemo story of monkey-human-hybrid-turned-merman searching for home & Hell Bent city where magic is just a weird hobby and DNA-experimenting labs are a stone’s throw from each other. Loved the quirky humour!
Marchisella Black’s Lair - an enjoyable pirate loot story.
Anthea Sharp The Sea King’s Daughter - rendition of Little Mermaid with an Irish twist & a HEA, loved!
I’ll admit that Jessica was probably my least favorite character of the Harbingers series. This prequel lets you get a glimpse into her mind, and what makes her tick. Thus making her a much more likable character, in my opinion. Like the rest of the series, the whole “harbingers of death” storyline is quite interesting. My only complaint is the ending left me feeling a bit unsatisfied. I felt that maybe at least one more chapter could have helped. Of course I always want more. Lol
Action-packed, entertaining, and magical. Melissa weaves an interesting story featuring wonderful characters from her main saga Keys of the Origin: The Scions of Balance; Book 1.—like Larkh, the protagonist of this tale. A young, charming pirate captain who's searching for a mysterious artifact. You'll find epic sea battles, banter, dragons, and a beautiful lost city shrouded in enigma and melancholy in this short story. A perfect taste of the beautiful world of Aeldynn that will leave you wanting more.
I look forward to reading many other amazing stories of the sea through “From The Deep: A Fiction-Atlas Press Anthology”.

The story is linked to the authors other work but is a fully stand-alone story not needing anything from the other books to be enjoyed in its own right and does provide a nice steeping stone into the authors other work.
