Editorial Reviews

Review

“I love this book because it’s so easy to use and recipes are really fun. I’ve already made like five things from it but I want to make A LOT more. I’ll probably make everything from the Sweet chapter.”
 — Jo Saltz’s daughter, Everett, Age 8

"Wow this looks good, I want to make all of these! The recipes I most want to try are the FamousChocolate Chip Cookies, the Mango Lassi Smoothie Bowl, the Perfect Pizza (but not the green leaves) and Captain’s Cookie Cake because it looks cool! Everything looks so good I want to eat the book!"
—Jonah, Age 5

"Yes! I want my mom to make a lot of this. For the Waffle Iron Grilled Cheese I would fill the holes with tomato soup. I think I can make the Edible Cookie Dough by myself so I could eat it all by myself! And the Sugar Cookie Truffles look too good to leave out for Santa.”
—Milo, Age 9

"The Leprechaun Shake looks way yummier than the green smoothies my mom makes, and I can tell the Perfect Pizza is good because of the blobs of cheese."
—Elliot, Age 7

"SOUR. PATCH. GRAPES. ‘Mom, we just need some sugar and we're gonna make this today.’ (Sigh) I wanna make allll of it."
—Viola, Age 8

"FRUITY PEBBLES! The Fruity Pebbles French Toast with whipped cream looks so delicious. I need to make it for my birthday. We need to get all the ingredients for the Banana Split Oatmeal someday cause we need to make that! Oh and Chocolate Chip Muffins ... yesyesyesyes!"
—Lillian, Age 5

"The recipes are really easy to follow. I wouldn’t have thought of some of these on my own.”
—Jack, Age 11

“The cover is very fun and it draws you in. I love the chapter titles  made with foods. I like the beginner to pro scale – it’s super helpful and it makes it very fun. My first impression of the recipes is that they’re awesome! I love the non-over complicated instruction format. It’s super easy for kids to quickly understand. I like the history segments because I like learning random facts. Peanut butter pancakes? OMG!!! English Muffin Pizzas – oh my gosh! Cinnamon Sugar Chips?! YUM! These recipes are so clever. Edible Cookie Dough?! OMG!!! Mason Jar Ice Cream sounds amazing – I’ve always wanted to make ice cream but it’s never been easy enough. The recipes are super clever and enticing."
—Annika, Age 10

4.0 out of 5 stars lots of fairly easy recipes, some foods from around the world, not many healthy options
By C on September 6, 2021
This fun cookbook collects over 100 recipes, most of which are fairly easy to make. The book is intended to be kid-friendly, with simple explanations and a focus on recipes that are more fun to make. The book is divided into eight main sections: Breakfast, Snacks, Lunchtime, Copycats (mostly fast food imitations), Dinners, Sweets, Fantastics, and Parties.

There are quite a few recipes from different cultures, and some of the recipes even include a “cooking with grandma” section, with a mini biography and picture of the grandma that submitted the recipe. This is a nice touch, and it is great to be able to introduce the kids to different foods from all over the world. There are also sections that explain the origins of certain foods, like “The super fun history of Tacos” and “The super fun history of Cinnamon Rolls.” These little history lessons are great, as they allow the kids to learn even more, and give them something else to do while they wait for their turn to help.

We have had fun trying some of the recipes in this book, and the kids have enjoyed the process. My only complaint so far, is that most of the recipes in the book aren't exactly very healthy. I wish there could have been more of a focus on healthier or low-sugar options. Overall though, a fun cookbook with a nice variety of recipes.

5.0 out of 5 stars LOVE THIS COOKBOOK!
By Alexa Shep on September 28, 2021
This book has so many fun recipes! I bought it for myself as I was looking for fun new ideas for meals for my little ones, and this book really did it! VERY happy with my purchase, everything I've made has been a hit! We've made the Apple pancake dippers, chili cheese dog casserole, big mac quesadillas (with no onions as my kids prefer), the next requests are the flaming hot Cheetos mac and cheese, nutella pops, the Reese's dessert, and the poke cake. This has so many interesting sections, including a section where they provide recipes from well known restaurants and places like the dole whip from Disney, the red lobster biscuits, McDonald's shamrock shake, along with others, and they have an amazing dessert section with such creative ideas, ideas for the holidays (like ghost brownies for Halloween) and several cute ideas for the Christmas season like holiday cookies, Santa hat pancakes are super cute, pigs in a blanket wreath, buddy the elf cookies, sugar cookie truffles, and themed ideas that would go great for any Disney princess lover (princess cupcakes and arendelle fudge) or super hero fans (captain America's shield cookie), even minion cookies! there are just SO MANY IDEAS!!! I LOVE it!!! HIGHLY recommend
