Annie Knox breaks convention, not only is this novel very well written, it's fresh and shocks you time-after-time, very rarely have I picked up a book where I'm truly haunted by the hero character's thoughts, Annie lets us into every single thing our hero thinks, at times revealing a disturbed psyche and an anti-hero, but then again every hero has dark shocking thoughts and impulses, but not many writers are brave enough to be generous and sincere to let us in on them and truly get to know those characters. Annie does exactly that, and has produced a very refreshing novel. The character construction is excellent, Annie's writing style is immersive, graphic, so graphic it's twisted and causes all sorts of reader reactions in you, moments where something brutal actually makes you chuckle, whilst others you'll actually find yourself gulping or catching your breath alongside the characters. Annie Knox is a fresh talented writer on the block, and she is here to stay, I know she is working on her second novel and I can't wait to be sucked into the world of her new character(s). Highly recommend!
