I've read some of her other series and had a good idea of what happened, but actually reading it as it happened was way cooler.
Getting James and Elise together only took five books and she had to die at least once....
I'm curious to see how the other demons are going to treat Elise now since her changes and I can't wait to read more about the uprising/revolution thing going on in hell now thanks to all of the action at the end of this book.
Oh, Nathaniel is cute and I'm also curious to see what his role is now thanks to the prophecy being proven just a tad. Also, what is going to happen to Anthony? I never felt right having him as Elise's boyfriend, but it doesn't mean I want something bad to happen to him. He just didn't belong where he had landed.
She also gets her heart ripped out a time or two. Not literally.
I honestly LIKE Elise. She's prickly. She doesn't have many social skills. She's part of something BIG that could potentially destroy the world. BUT... she's so damn interesting. I'm not going to lie, the whole James/Elise thing is killing me. I know what I want from them but I don't know if I'm going to get it.
And you know what? I'm okay with that. I will trust S.M. Reine to take her story where it needs to go. Even if it kills me in the end.
So. Hell. Family. Blood. Demons. Love. Betrayal. You get ALL THAT with this book. Plus a side order of ETERNAL DAMNATION and a peek at a younger James.
I have two books to go in this series and I'm still terrified of what will befall these two next. Yet... I can't NOT read them because OMG!WTF?BBQPIZZA!

Anyway, this is another good addition to the series. A lot of things are finally revealed in this book, so that at least was pretty satisfying. I also loved the introduction of Nathaniel - that is one cool kid. The writing is still pretty awesome - Reine is one of the few authors I've read who really nails the whole interweaving of past flashbacks into the present storyline thing. She does it so seamlessly and it adds a lot to my enjoyment of the storytelling.
Alright, I guess I will just have to wait months or whatever to find out what the hell James meant in that last scene. Unless I can control myself and just wait until the last book is out, then I won't have to deal with these stupid cliffhangers.
Ms. Reine knows how to write in a way that keeps the reader engaged and wondering what will happen next. All her characters are realistic and interesting. Her main characters are strong yet flawed enough to make us believe.
I hope this isn't a spoiler but something happens in this book that we have been waiting for since the beginning. Are you curious? Check out Six Moon Summer (Seasons of the Moon #1) and keep reading all the wonderful stories that S.M Reine shares. Wonder if I will ever catch up reading this prolific writer's work!
At some point, however, the characters need to be able to breathe for a few minutes without being tortured. I hope the subsequent books come quickly, and I'm irritated with myself for breaking my personal rule about waiting until a full series is available before reading any of it. If you have a low tolerance for leaving characters in horrible circumstances and waiting months for resolution, then wait on this one until the final book is out.
