The Director: A Dark Bratva Romance (Chicago Bratva Book 1) Kindle Edition
"Ravil and Lucy are as opposite as it comes, but that juxtaposition in personalities makes the chemistry even hotter. ."
"Lucy is strong and feisty and isn't afraid to stand up to Ravil."
"This book is going in my to read again pile..."
"...everything I didn't know I needed."
From the Inside Flap
A prickle runs through me at the sound of my name on her lips. Because she says it like she's claiming it for herself. Like she, too, regretted the absence of personal details after our encounter.
But that's impossible. If she's carrying my child, she had every reason, right, and responsibility to contact Black Light and request my personal information. To contact me with the news.
And she didn't. Which means she didn't want to know my name.
"Do you have something to tell me, Lucy Lawrence?"
"No," she clips, turning away, her business-like demeanor in full command.
I catch her arm, and she rubberbands back. I immediately release it when she shoots a laser-beam glare at my hand. "You really should have called." I give her belly a pointed look.
She draws herself up taller, the muscles in the front of her neck going stiff. "It's not yours," she blurts as color suffuses her face. Her pupils are tiny points of fear.
The lie hits me square in the chest. I was right. She didn't want me to know the existence of this child.
I cock my head. "Why lie?"
Her neck and chest spread with color, too, but she keeps her voice as even and low as mine. "I know what you are, Ravil. I don't believe your"--she clears her throat for emphasis-- "profession lends itself to fatherhood. I won't ask for child support. Don't ask for visitation. Don't make me prove in a courtroom why you're unfit to parent."
My upper lip curls at her threat. I am a man who's reached the top of my organization and this city with quick, emotionless thinking. I don't usually take offense. I don't usually make things personal.
But this time, it's personal. Lucy Lawrence thinks I'm unfit to parent my child? She thinks she'll keep this child from me?
I give her a smile that promises retribution. "Don't worry, counselor. I won't ask."

Anyways, caveat aside...A successful lawyer gets kidnapped by her baby daddy who is a criminal and then changes her whole life around to fit his desires but RR writes it like it was really the heroine’s choice so it was fine. First of all why does she have to hate her job? Can’t we have books that celebrate powerful, working mothers or just generally ambitious powerful women?! Also if either of them were going to change their jobs it should be the criminal so he doesn’t go to prison and lose out on being able to be a father/coparent. Frankly that was never addressed and that was the main issue in the first place! Never mind that (maybe spoiler but like not really) he was a smuggler of antique furniture and not doing anything super nefarious. Also, he literally kidnaps a woman which right of the bay is a big old red flag and in my book would eliminate anyone as a potential partner. The whole storyline really frustrated me and made me sad because the premise could have been the same just without the non-consent and it wouldn’t have had to lose anything. Anyways, I’m sure I’m in the minority and a lot of people like trash men as romantic interests but I hate them and thus I didn’t enjoy this book.
At different times each of the main characters will drive you crazy. The dual point of view format of the story lets the reader experience their complicated individual internal struggles first-hand. This is a romance book, so you know there’s going to be some kind of HEA. But there were definitely times in the story that I wondered how on earth they were going to get to that point. The chemistry between Lucy and Ravil is intense and has some D/s qualities, consciously adjusted to reflect the fact that Lucy is pregnant.
Some of the issues that arose between them originated in unexpected ways, like a big problem caused by her best friend toward end of the story. It did make me wonder if that friend is a character we will see later in the series. I will definitely be pre-ordering each story in this series is they become available. It is already made clear by the end of the book that 2 of the men in Ravil’s crime family have their stories ready to be told, and there are at least 3 others who I want to know more about. Plus, the traumatized sister of one of those 3 clearly has great story potential. Break out the pierogis and your best Russian vodka and settle down for a very entertaining read.
Overall I truly enjoyed this book and can’t wait for more in this series.
One couldn’t keep but fell in love with Ravil, he gave her everything he could, A woman couldn’t ask for more. But he is still a stubborn old fool. He had a lot to be thankful that his Lucy is a brave and strong woman to slap some sense into him.

The story is about a Lucy lawyer coming to terms with the father Ravil of her unborn child being a bratva chief. Who Lucy has hidden from Ravil. Once he find out , he wants to revenge her lack of honesty.
Ravil has had a hard life , but is good to his men. Lucy is trying to come to turns with her new situation.
I did enjoy this story. we have domaince and submission and love. with misunderstanding.
Ravil is the Dom head of the Bratva in Chicago. When he chances upon Lucy again after one hot night together 5 months earlier he quickly realises her baby bump is his. And this is where the fun begins.... Kidnapping, seriously hot Dom/Sub play, bedrest, birthing classes, midnight swims and a gentle undercurrent of falling in love.
Lucy is strong and feisty and isn't afraid to stand up to Ravil. As she begins to trust him more she learns that he is more than his prison tattoos.
If you love a hot Mafia boss and a surprise pregnancy then this is the book for you
