One star does not do it justice. This movie was horrendous. Such bad camera work, the acting was absolutely horrible, I really don’t understand who the hell gave it five stars. Did the director and producer make a bunch of accounts and just leave nice reviews? DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND FIND ANOTHER MOVIE. PLEASE. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD.
So, first of all, let me say that I think this movie is watchable and not a total waste of time (as some other reviewers have expressed). I was trying to figure out where in LA this was supposed to be going on since the mixture of backdrops is confusing - between the various gangs and locations, it doesn't appear to be any "real" part of LA at all, but may resemble the Long Beach area? Not sure... Anyway, about the story - I'm always all-in for the whole good-cop-gone-bad tale, but this movie just seemed like it was just trying to explore too many story arcs at one time, and suffered because of it. By the second half, it wasn't faster-moving action; it was just way too many story points happening on at one time. The acting itself runs up and down the border of good and bad - I had to rewind it because I didn't see who took the drugs and who took the money - even though they were in different color bags! There are some minor characters that who's acting was quite impressive - and some big-name actors with performances (at times) that left much to be desired. So - if you are expecting something like "End of Watch," or "Harsh Times" - this movie is NOT it. But as a Sunday Afternoon alternative to the NFL - it certainly makes the grade there.
A Brilliantly made movie. If one stays focused, towards the last 1/3 of the movie, everything becomes apparent. Every Actor has acted appropriately. Because I read all the reviews, as some people had said that it is confusing at times, some thought Cuba had over acted, some thought it was poorly made, I followed the movie with out any distraction. It is brilliantly written. If Cuba had not acted the way he was directed to act, the movie would not have made the impact it did. I liked/loved the movie. It is a well made movie. Good Casting. This is one of the most believable movies of Gangs and Police I have watched. There are a few well made Gangs and Police movies out there.
At 60 it is so sad to see how the American culture and attitudes have declined to such an extent. I give the U.S. another 30 years, if that long, before it finally implodes upon itself. The know it all attitude of today's youth unfortunately never knew of a time when such behavior and disrespect failed to exist on the levels now so openly & prominently displayed. It is films such as this viewed by the youth who now craves such which has altered the thought process of the present as well as future generations.
Presently in Albuquerque NM on business, one of the highest crime rates in the U.S.. Each night I hear hours of endless gun fire. My country has fallen and I have got to get out now as crime, violence and disrespect here has become the norm!!! I had to append to this post I left last night; I left for the store around 3:00 P.M. today and just as I pulled onto the blvd. a block away from my domain the police shot & killed a person waving a gun and just now as I returned & entered the complex where I'm staying while here in NM a person stole a truck belonging to a resident, when the resident tried to stop him the thief became a murderer as he shot & killed the victim. I repeat....I've got to get out NOW!!!
I am a HUGE FAN of Cuba Gooding, however this movie is NOT ON MY LIST of favorites. I have a lot of his movies, and I watch them a lot, but this movie angers me. 1) It tells us that there is corruption in our Law enforcement system and that is very disheartening. We trust them and am very thankful for their work and their sacrifices they suffer to keep us all safe. 2) To him as an actor, it is demeaning that he would play such a corrupt man and that he would shoot a priest without blinking an eye with no remorse. A low class thug. To think that he would make such a horrible movie, It bothers me. "Men Of Honor, and the one where he plays a doctor and heals people is wonderful. He has all my love and respect there. They are 5 star rating if you ask me. This one, maybe 1 star.
Gets down low with gang's and gangster cops that are indistinguishable from each other. A tale of backstabbing and corruption, of plot twists and mayhem. Cuba overacts but Collins Jr. nails it as ex gangsters turned LA cops who's loyalty is tested to the ultimate conclusion. Action, drugs, Canadian surfer gang (really), Latino and Black gangs all vie for the same dirty deals with a corrupt LA gang unit. Recommended.
The name says it all, Dirty. Over use of stereotypes, language that was just wrong and out of place, and story line hard to follow. Some events were just too unreal, seemed more like a low budget film or college project.

Like most reviewers here I did not like this at all. And like one of them, after trying to give it a second chance had to turn it off after about 40 minuets of listening to non stop senseless swearing. Maybe this is the speech of some, but for me it spoilt the enjoyment of a film. I may have watched and enjoyed it at 18 with ten cans of Budweiser on a Saturday night. But not for me now.

Wirklich sehr guter Film aka Street Kings usw... Ausserdem ist Wyclef Jean in einer der Nebenrollen :) 5 Punkte volles Rohr, Kauftipp.... Der Ton ist auch sehr gut. Das Bild ist auch klasse!
