The Divine Comedy: by Dante Alighieri Kindle Edition
Dante Alighieri's poetic masterpiece, The Divine Comedy, is a moving human drama, an unforgettable visionary journey through the infinite torment of Hell, up the arduous slopes of Purgatory, and on to the glorious realm of Paradise-the sphere of universal harmony and eternal salvation.
About the Author
Dante Alighieri was born in 1265 in Florence to a family of minor nobility. He entered into Florentine politics in 1295, but he and his party were forced into exile in a hostile political climate in 1301. Taking asylum in Ravenna late in life, Dante completed his Divine Commedia, considered one of the most important works of Western literature, before his death in 1321. --This text refers to an alternate kindle_edition edition.

Nearly mint quality, the protective covering that the book initially shipped with was still mostly intact! Not the same leather binding that is shown in the image on Amazon, but the same translation and engravings from Franklin Library. I wanted to complain more about the book not exactly matching the listing, but its quality is more than satisfactory enough and shipping was timely.

I like it! Dante plus Blake plus 70 years old makes it a bookshelf treasure. BUT... The slipcase was missing. The quality is less than very-good! The top of the book is blackened, possibly by smoke, but definitely from the absence of the slipcase for many years. There are a number of color illustrations. The color is RED! I do not know whether they were originally all red, if this is a result of the photogravure reproduction method, or if non-red pigments have leeched out of the illustrations over the years. I am afraid I cannot prize this volume, nor can I display it with pride. Still, how can I not like it!

Fantastic book, just a little irritated with the title because this book is not the entire Divine Comedy. This book only contains 34 cantos which is only the Inferno.

I have read this book and reviewed its contents with many of my peers who have read this book as a class subject. I thoroughly enjoyed its symbolisms and cannot even begin to phathom all the meanings im still pondering. It is a must read for any serious literature reader.

I don't know where this was hiding, but what a find. The corners were not bent, the pages were crisp & clean and the spine show zero signs of have ever been opened up all the way. This book was in perfect condition. So stoked to have it in my collection!!!
