"Do not do to others that which would anger you if others did it to you."―Socrates (the Greek philosopher), circa 470-399 B.C.
Mr. Rabbit's new neighbors are Otters.
OTTERS!
But he doesn't know anything about otters. Will they get along? Will they be friends?
Just treat otters the same way you'd like them to treat you, advises Mr. Owl.
In her smart, playful style Laurie Keller highlights how to be a good friend and neighbor―simply follow the Golden Rule! This title has Common Core connections.

Editorial Reviews
Review
“Keller serves up sound, friendly advice for maintaining a peaceable kingdom.” ―Publishers Weekly
“Each page bursts with colorful illustrations and is scattered with words of different sizes and fonts. This simple story is certain to appeal to children.” ―School Library Journal
“While kids may well have encountered the Golden Rule elsewhere, this explanation and elaboration nicely unifies what might otherwise seem like a dreary list of manners. This lively book is anything but.” ―Kirkus Reviews
About the Author
Laurie Keller is the bestselling author-illustrator of many books for kids, including Do Unto Otters; Potato Pants!; The Scrambled States of America; the Geisel Award-winning We Are Growing!; and Arnie the Doughnut, as well as three books in the Adventures of Arnie the Doughnut chapter book series.
Growing up in Michigan, Laurie always loved to draw, paint and write stories. She earned a B.F.A. at Kendall College of Art and Design, then worked at Hallmark Cards in Kansas City as a greeting card illustrator for seven years. One night, the idea for a children’s book popped into her head and after showing the story to several publishers in New York City, she quit her job and moved there. The following year, that story idea was a published book―The Scrambled States of America. Laurie loved living in NYC, but she returned to her home state, where she lives in the woods along the shores of Lake Michigan.

I read it to a group of second graders and we had a great discussion and interactive activity after the reading. Key phrases like “Please,” “ thank you,” and “Excuse me,” are used in different languages. Highly recommend this cute book.

I shouldn't really be recommending any children's books instead of my own (link above) but I just had to say, this book is great. On the surface you might think the subject matter is a bit dry - a rabbit is worried about his otter neighbours and learns about having good manners and showing consideration to others - but it's definitely one to read and read again.
As well as the main story, each page is packed with little visual jokes and asides - you genuinely do have to go through it a few times to notice everything. The pictures are great, the book has a real sense of humour. You should definitely get this! (and mine too!)
