I sent Wim Wenders an E-mail...

I was kind of upset about the very mixed reviews this film got in theatrical release, so I sent him a message of support because, in my opinion, this is a unique and thoughtful picture. Surprisingly, he got back to me and said that "Sometimes you can shoot the "phone book" and get nothing but praise for it. Other times, you think you're doing your best work and they just don't seem to get it. Unfortunately, "Don't Come Knocking" seems to fit in the latter category. In any case, I'm glad to hear it meant something to you". Nice to see that there are others out there who "get it". Thought some of you might be interested.

Jessica Lange & Sam Shepard Will Blow You Away

Jessica Lange and Sam Shepard share one of the powerful scenes I've ever seen. To see that alone is worth the price of this film. Acting brilliance.

Sam Shepard, Jessica Lange, Wim Wenders. What's not to like?

Not a highly polished gem but good character study. Great to see Jessica Lange.

A Very Good Movie

It's my kind of movie for a variety of reasons. IMDB has a question on the message board about the meaning of the title. I think they are all wrong. IMO the title comes from the old song "Barnacle Bill The Sailor" in which is the phrase reply......"Don't come knocking at my door says the fair young maiden". I especially like the Montana location and the old Packard since I had one very much like this one.

Acted beautifully by the entire cast

More on Wenders theme of alienated lost souls unable to connect with others because they don't know who they are. Anything he (Wenders) touches is gold. Acted beautifully by the entire cast.

Enjoy the scenery

In high definition, a beautiful movie to watch. Not as engrossing as Paris, Texas, but Shepard is good. His wife, Jessica Lange, even better. Nice to see Tim Roth in role where he's not a sadist or psychotic.

Don't Come Knocking Captures Butte
Verified purchase
I was lucky enough to live in Butte, Montana in the 90s, and this film perfectly captures Butte. I enjoyed the film, not Wim Wenders very best, but it has its charms. I'm writing this for people who would like to see Butte and don't have a plane ticket in hand. The cinematography is absolutely gorgeous, and you feel like you really are there, Uptown, on the Richest Hill on Earth.
